Boiler Exhaust Muffler: Purpose and Product Features
The noise emitted by steam exhaust from thermal equipment such as boilers, far exceeds the values specified in China's "Hygiene Standards for Industrial Enterprise Noise." Therefore, our factory's series of boiler steam exhaust silencers are primarily used for effectively silencing steam exhaust from boilers and steam turbines in industrial sectors such as power generation, chemical, metallurgy, and textile. These silencers are developed based on the composite noise reduction principle of resistance, jet, and impedance, featuring large noise reduction, compact size, light weight, and easy installation. Depending on the application, there are several forms available:
Boiler Ignition Exhaust Muffler (TB) Type
To suppress the noise emitted by high-pressure gas flow, various types of silencers are currently available worldwide. Most of them operate on the principle of multi-stage throttling and pressure reduction. However, due to their complex structure, heavy weight, and difficulty in disassembly and maintenance, their application range is limited. This structure's silencer overcomes these drawbacks.
This type of boiler exhaust silencer is designed based on a comprehensive understanding of sound absorption principles. After high-pressure steam undergoes a single flow control within the silencer, it enters a pressure-reducing section, where it is expanded in a large volume, forming low-pressure steam that is then ejected. During this process, a portion of the steam's internal energy is converted into sound energy of a certain frequency. Although the noise power is significantly reduced, it often remains above the standard value due to factors such as the exhaust deviating from the design specifications. To address this, a double-layered sound-insulating hood is designed around the pressure-reducing section, tailored to the frequency spectrum characteristics of the residual noise emitted by the section, to effectively absorb the remaining noise. Upon installation according to specifications, the total noise reduction should reach 36 to 45 decibels.
2. Boiler Safety Valve Muffler (TA Type)
As is widely known, for safety valves of boilers and other thermal equipment, the exhaust steam should avoid excessive noise and ensure smooth discharge. Therefore, the commonly used multi-stage throttling and small hole injection for noise reduction should not be employed. This restriction has always been a design challenge for safety valve exhaust noise suppressors and a reason for their poor noise reduction performance. The boiler safety valve noise suppressor also utilizes the noise reduction principle of resistance, injection, and obstruction, replacing the smaller diameter control flow holes with larger diameter expansion holes. This structurally enhances the resistance, injection, and obstruction noise reduction mechanisms, achieving ideal noise reduction effects.
Low-Pressure Boiler Steam Muffler (Type TD)
Numerous industrial and mining enterprises utilize a substantial number of low-pressure boilers with a pressure of 1.6MPa or less. In power plant thermal systems, there are also a large number of low-pressure thermal devices, such as back-pressure turbines, deaerators, auxiliary air blowers, steam turbine oil pumps, continuous boiler blowdown, periodic blowdown expanders, and more. The exhaust pipes of the aforementioned equipment require the installation of silencers that are structurally lightweight and easier to install. Our factory designs specialized deaerator series, back-pressure turbine series, and other product lines to cater to different noise reduction needs, ensuring customer satisfaction.
The above steam exhaust muffler meets the requirements of the "Noise Hygiene Standards for Industrial Enterprises" and has been widely used domestically.

Section 3: Instructions for Ordering and Selection of Boiler Steam Exhaust Mufflers
Our steam exhaust silencer series is meticulously designed to meet the specific steam emission requirements of our customers. To achieve optimal noise reduction, it is essential that the product aligns with the emission target, steam parameters, and volume. Therefore, when ordering a silencer, the following parameters must be provided:
① Provide steam turbine model, boiler capacity, steam pressure, and temperature for thermal power plants.
② Application (such as for boiler superheat emissions or drum safety valve emissions, etc.)
③ Emission Rate T/H
④ Original exhaust pipe outer diameter and wall thickness;
If you require our factory to handle the installation design, please provide the original exhaust pipeline installation diagram.
For models not listed in the product manual, users may provide the aforementioned information, and our factory will assist in selecting the appropriate model.
Section 4: Installation Instructions for Boiler Steam Muffler
① The exhaust silencer should be installed perpendicular to the factory building's ceiling, and the silencer base should be secured to the factory with type steel brackets.
② To enhance the wind resistance of the factory building's roof height, the exhaust silencer body is equipped with a supporting bracket. Therefore, the exhaust pipe before the exhaust silencer should have a section of expansion bend to absorb thermal expansion. If the original exhaust pipe section is already vertically fitted with a drain pan, the expansion bend can be omitted.
③ The bottom of the exhaust silencer body is designed with a drain pipe or drain hole, which should be checked for free flow.
④ The vent pipe should have a rain shield made of thin steel plate installed over the opening in the factory roof platform.
⑤ Generally, one safety valve is paired with one silencer. There are two types of safety valves: single-seat and double-seat. For double-seat valves, the exhaust pipes can be merged into a single main pipe and connected to the silencer during installation. However, for double-seat safety valves with larger exhaust volumes, two silencers can also be installed.
⑥ For exhaust silencers used in small flow applications such as oxygen purifiers, steam喷射式 vacuum pumps, etc., the外形 is designed in a tube shape for easy installation. The installation method involves mounting the exhaust silencer vertically along the walls and columns of the main workshop. Steel sliding brackets are set up on the walls and columns, with the silencer and pipeline suspended from them, with the exhaust outlet facing the roof. Note that this type of silencer is factory-equipped with a fixed bracket, which can be omitted when using sliding bracket installation.
