Section 1: Applications and Product Features of Steam Muffler

The noise emitted from the steam exhaust of steam boilers and other thermal equipment far exceeds the values stipulated in our country's "Hygiene Standard for Industrial Enterprise Noise" (see Appendices 1 and 2). To address this issue, our factory has sold a series of steam muffler products, primarily used for effective noise reduction of steam exhaust from thermal equipment such as boilers and steam turbines in power generation, chemical, metallurgical, textile, and other industrial sectors.

This series of steam mufflers is designed based on the composite noise reduction principle of resistance, spatter, and obstruction, featuring large noise reduction, small size, light weight, and easy installation. Depending on different applications, our factory offers the following types for sale:

Boiler Ignition Exhaust Muffler (TB) Type

To suppress the noise from high-pressure gas flow emissions, there are various types of mufflers available worldwide, with most of them employing multi-stage throttling and pressure reduction. However, due to their complex structure, heavy weight, and difficulty in disassembly and maintenance, their application range is limited. This design of muffler overcomes these drawbacks.

This model steam muffler is designed based on a comprehensive understanding of noise reduction principles. After passing through a single flow control in the exhaust steam muffler, high-pressure steam enters the pressure-reducing chamber, where it is expanded in a large volume, forming low-pressure steam that is then discharged. During this process, a portion of the steam's internal energy is converted into sound energy of certain frequencies. Although the noise power is significantly reduced, it often remains above the standard value due to various factors such as deviation from the designed exhaust pressure. To address this, a double-layered noise-reducing enclosure is designed around the pressure-reducing chamber, tailored to the frequency spectrum characteristics of the residual noise emitted by the chamber, to effectively absorb the remaining noise. After installation in accordance with the requirements, the total noise reduction should reach 36 to 45 decibels.

2. Steam Safety Valve Muffler (TA Type)

It is well known that for safety valves on boilers and other thermal equipment, the exhaust steam should avoid excessive noise and should allow for smooth discharge. Consequently, the commonly used methods of multi-stage throttling and small-hole injection for noise reduction should not be employed. This restriction has always been a design challenge for safety valve silencers and is also a reason for their poor noise reduction performance. This silencer, designed for safety valves, also utilizes the noise reduction principle of resistance, injection, and obstruction. It replaces the smaller diameter control holes with larger holes for expansion, structurally enhancing the resistance, injection, and obstruction noise reduction mechanisms, achieving ideal noise reduction results.

3. Low-pressure Steam Silencer (Type TD)

A large number of industrial and mining enterprises utilize low-pressure boilers with pressures of 01.3MPa or less, and there are also numerous low-pressure thermal devices in power plant thermal systems, such as back-pressure turbines, deaerators, auxiliary air blowers, steam turbine oil pumps, continuous blowdown from boilers, periodic blowdown expanders, and more. These equipment require exhaust pipes to be equipped with noise dampers that are lightweight in structure and easier to install. Our factory designs dedicated deaerator series, back-pressure turbine series, and other product lines for different noise reduction applications, meeting the needs of our customers.

The above exhaust muffler meets the requirements of the "Noise Hygiene Standard for Industrial Enterprises" and has been widely applied domestically.

Used for N3 type steam turbine, 20T/H low-pressure boiler superheater steam exhaust. Boiler pressure 13at, evaporation 20T/H, exhaust steam flow 10T/H.

Section II: Product Series and Dimensions

1. Steam muffler (Small hole type, suitable for high temperature and high pressure)

TA Type Exhaust Muffler, where TA indicates the Small Hole Muffler (Small Hole Type), is suitable for high temperature and high-pressure applications. It does not use sound-absorbing cotton filling, and the muffler is surrounded by small holes. Gases enter from the bottom inlet and exit from all sides.

Model TA-3.82-10/57 Description: TA signifies the small hole exhaust silencer, 3.82 denotes the pressure of 3.82 Mpa, 57 indicates the interface outer diameter of 57mm, and 10 represents the exhaust capacity of 10T/H.

  

2. Steam muffler (composite, suitable for temperatures up to 450 degrees, pressure up to 6.4 Mpa)

TB Type Steam Exhaust Muffler, TB indicating Muffler with Soundproofing Enclosure (Composite), which is based on the small hole type and adds a soundproofing enclosure, filled with sound-absorbing cotton. Gases enter from the bottom connection and exit from the top. Due to the sound-absorbing cotton filling, it is suitable for pressures up to 6.4 Mpa; otherwise, the filling may be blown out. The housing is made of carbon steel suitable for temperatures up to 450 degrees.

TB-3.82-10/57 Model Meaning: TB signifies Composite Exhaust Muffler, 57 denotes the outer diameter of the interface is 57mm, and 10 indicates the exhaust capacity is 10T/H.

  



Section 3: Selection Guide

1. Our factory offers steam mufflers in the following three major types:

① Steam muffler: Used for noise reduction of steam exhaust from high and medium-pressure boiler ignition, select from Table 1.

② Steam muffler: Used for noise reduction of high and medium pressure steam safety valve exhaust, select from Table 2 and Table 3.

③ TD Type Low-Pressure Through Hole Silencer: Used for steam exhaust noise reduction in various boilers, deaerators, back-pressure turbines, and other auxiliary power plant equipment with steam pressure below 0.16 Mpa. Selection is made from Tables 4 and 5. For items not listed in the tables, customers can provide steam parameters, discharge volume, and pipe interface dimensions of the equipment, and the factory will assist in selection.

2. Model Configuration:

  (Ⅰ) (Ⅱ) (Ⅲ)

(Ⅰ) Composed of two or three English letters

The first letter indicates the muffler structural feature. T—Through-hole muffler.

The second letter indicates the noise abatement object B—Boiler ignition exhaust and other artificial exhausts A—Safety valve D—Low-pressure through-hole silencer

When used for certain special purposes, a third letter represented by lowercase English letters is also set, such as:

b—Back-pressure Steam Turbine y—Deaerator

(II) Represents the absolute pressure of boiler steam, at (for the reheater of an intermediate reheat unit, the denominator of the fraction represents the temperature).

(Ⅲ) The numerator represents the boiler evaporation rate in T/H; the denominator represents the muffler exhaust gas flow rate in T/H.

Additionally, for silencers that need to differentiate between superheated steam and saturated steam, add "(Over)" or "(Saturated)" after the third column to indicate the distinction.

Four: Installation Instructions:

① The exhaust silencer should be installed vertically to the factory building roof, as shown in Figure 3, and fixed to the building using steel frame brackets.

② To enhance the wind resistance of the factory building's roof height, the exhaust muffler body is equipped with a support-type bracket. Therefore, the exhaust pipe before the exhaust muffler should have a section of expansion bend to absorb thermal expansion. If a drain pan is already installed vertically on the original exhaust pipe section, the expansion bend can be omitted.

③ The bottom of the exhaust silencer body is designed with drain pipes or drain holes. The openings should be checked for unobstructed flow.

④ The exhaust pipe should have a rain shield made of thin steel plate installed over the opening in the roof platform of the factory building (as shown in Figure 3).

⑤ For safety doors, it is generally a one-to-one match with a muffler. Safety doors come in single and double seat options. For the double seat models, the exhaust pipes can be combined into a single main pipe during installation and connected to the muffler. However, for double seat safety doors with larger exhaust volumes, two mufflers can also be installed.

⑥ The exhaust silencers for low-volume exhausts like oxygen scavengers and steam jet vacuum pumps are designed in a tubular shape for easy installation. The installation method is shown in Figure 4, where the exhaust silencers are mounted vertically along the main workshop wall and columns. Steel sliding brackets are set up on the wall and columns, with the silencer and pipeline suspended from them. The exhaust outlet of the silencer should face the roof. Note that the silencer is factory-fitted with fixed supports, which can be omitted when using sliding bracket installation.
