PP Ducting

PP ductwork is a plastic pipeline made by extrusion molding of polypropylene (PP) resin. Its core value lies in utilizing the inherent excellent chemical resistance of PP material to address the issue of traditional metal ductwork (such as galvanized iron sheet, stainless steel) being prone to rust, perforation, and having a short lifespan in corrosive environments.

PP piping can withstand corrosion from the majority of acids, alkalis, and organic solvents (such asHydrochloric AcidSulfuric AcidNitric Acid、Sodium HydroxideAlcohol and other chemicals), offering a significantly longer service life than metal piping, and is particularly suitable for environments such as chemical processing, electroplating, and laboratories. PP materials have a much lower density than metals, making PP ducts extremely lightweight. This results in easier transport, handling, and installation processes, effectively reducing installation costs and labor intensity. The smooth inner wall minimizes friction resistance; the inner surface of the PP pipe is very smooth, which reduces dust adhesion and fluid resistance. This means that under the same power of the fan, a larger air volume can be achieved, or the same air volume can be achieved with a lower power requirement from the fan, leading to greater energy efficiency.

PP material is easily connected by hot melt welding, offering high strength at the welds, excellent sealing, and nearly seamless joints. Special flanges can also be used for connection. Repair and replacement are very convenient in case of local damage.

III. Main Types

Based on structure and usage, PP ductwork is primarily divided into:

PP Round Duct (Straight Pipe):

The most common form is circular cross-section, with sizes ranging from dozens to thousands of millimeters. They offer excellent aerodynamic performance and are the most frequently used type.

PP Rectangular Ducts

When installation space height is limited, rectangular ducts are used to maximize space utilization.

PP Reducing Fittings / Reducers

Used for connecting ventilation pipes of different diameters.

PP Elbow/Elbow Pipe

Used to alter the direction of ventilation ducts, commonly available in 90° and 45° elbows.

PP Tee/Four-way Tee

Branch or manifold for ventilation ducts.

PP Air Valve: Used to adjust the size of air flow in ventilation systems.

Four: Connection Method

Hot Melt Welding (Most Commonly Used):

Utilize specialized PP welding torch and welding rod to heat and melt the pipe and fittings, then connect them together. The joint exhibits high strength and excellent sealing, nearly becoming a single unit.

Flange Connection:

Welded PP flange at the pipe end, then secured together with bolts, with a sealing gasket in between. Easy for disassembly and maintenance.

Socket and Spigot joint

For small-diameter pipes, socket-and-spigot joints can be used (with PP-specific adhesive).

In summary, the PP duct is the "expert" for solving the难题 of corrosive gas transmission. It excels in medium and low-temperature, highly corrosive conditions, and has become the standard ventilation pipeline material for industries like chemicals and laboratories, thanks to its lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and energy-saving features. However, when selecting it, one must pay close attention to its temperature resistance limit and outdoor aging resistance issues.
