Design and manufacturing of taps
(1) Choose superior tap material. Adding special alloy elements to common high-speed tool steel can significantly enhance the wear resistance and toughness of the taps.
(2) Select a rational heat treatment method for the cutting tool to balance the tap's hardness and toughness.
(3) Increase the helix angle of the tap appropriately. However, be cautious that if the helix angle is too large, it can easily cause the tap to chip during retraction and produce a multi-angled thread.
(4) Coating the tap threads with TiN (Titanium Nitride) can significantly enhance the tap's wear resistance, thermal resistance, and lubricity.
