Chemical Cleaning Scale Removal Process
Recirculating closed-loop cleaning
Recirculating cleaning utilizes two original parallel ash pipelines to form a loop, creating a circulation system with the cleaning pump station. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, which circulates through the ash water pipes for cleaning. As the acid washing decreases to a certain level, the acidic solution is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out during shutdown and is complex, with higher costs.

Open channel cleaning
No two ash pipes should form a loop during cleaning; only a single ash pipe should be used for open circuit cleaning. The method involves connecting one end of the ash pipe to the cleaning unit, continuously preparing a specific concentration of cleaning solution in the mixing tank, and then injecting it into the ash pipe either continuously or intermittently. This process requires adding cleaning equipment during shutdown, which increases the cost.

Continuous cleaning without shutdown
The process involves continuously injecting a specific quantity of acidic solution while also introducing a certain amount of slurry pipeline cleaning inhibitor and pipeline descaler. This is done for open-loop cleaning. The main function of the cleaning aid is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash scale at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also increasing its solubility in water and reducing the formation of airlock, ensuring the quality of the ash pipeline cleaning.
The procedure is as follows: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the descaling agent and pipeline cleaning agent by considering the sludge flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take a sample at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be deemed complete.
2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental protection, ease of operation, and safety advantages.
High-pressure water technology boasts the following advantages.
(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality - The high-pressure water jet cleaning for pipelines and the internal cavities of heat exchangers can completely remove all scaling and obstructions from the pipes, revealing the metal surface. The high-pressure water jet, with its immense energy and supersonic speed, is capable of fully destroying tough scaling and obstructions without causing any damage to the metal.
Due to the pressure of high-pressure water being less than the compressive strength grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the base material being cleaned.
(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined crushing effects of water jet washing, wedge splitting, shearing, and grinding, scale can be quickly broken and removed, which is several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting and shot peening techniques, simple mechanical, and manual cleaning methods.
Components cleaned with high-pressure water jet do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface chemicals must be rinsed off with clear water.
(3) No Environmental Pollution: As high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not generate a large amount of dust like sandblasting, shot blasting, or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the atmosphere and harm health. It also does not produce a large volume of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can contaminate rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning with pure water as the medium is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomization, the emitted jet can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust levels from 80mg/m³ with other methods to below the national safety standards, thus causing no pollution.

Pipe Scale
(1) Classified by chemical composition, they can be categorized into carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively; mixed scale is usually a mixture of the above three types of scales.

(2) Categorized by physical properties, there are two types: scale that is firmly adhered to the pot shell and tube walls, and sediment that is loosely textured and easily detachable.
Scale is primarily formed due to the precipitation and adherence of salts like calcium and magnesium from the boiler feedwater onto the metal surface upon heating. The thermal conductivity of scale is very low, around 2 to 5 times less than that of ordinary steel. The buildup of scale on the boiler's heating surface greatly worsens heat transfer efficiency, impacting the boiler's performance; it can easily lead to the damage of metal materials due to local overheating, potentially causing tube failure; it also accelerates galvanic corrosion, leading to pipeline scale corrosion and speeding up the deterioration of the heating surface. Once scale forms, it should be promptly removed using either mechanical or chemical methods.
