The viscosity measurement system is a specially designed and developed automated testing equipment for polymers' intrinsic viscosity, viscosity number, average polymerization degree, and viscosity average molecular weight. Depending on the number of test units configured in the system, it is categorized as NCY-X/2, NCY-X/4, and NCY-X/6, with corresponding configurations of two, four, and six test units, respectively, allowing for simultaneous use by two, four, or six viscometers.
UtilizeNcy-xViscosity Automatic Measurement System Ahead:
The determination of the time required for a certain volume of solution, previously measured manually, to flow through a capillary.
The original manual determination of data validity.
Just like the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter, it will still be executed by the system.
The system will still instantly and visually display the flow of the solution in the capillary viscometers within each unit.
The system will still automatically repeatedly test and eliminate out-of-tolerance results to obtain accurate flow times.
The system still features the JWC precision temperature-controlled bath, a result of our 1990s national research project, and continues to deliver long-term temperature fluctuations and distributions superior to ±0.01°C, ensuring consistency of test data at any moment and location.
In addition, the automatic testing system will also feature the following new functions:
Automated liquid dispensing instruments with a precision up to 0.1% for easy sample solution preparation (one-button liquid dispensing).
Double-glazed vials with isolation design, ensuring the prepared solution dissolves rapidly and evenly in the precise temperature oscillating bath without interference from moisture.
Automatic Liquid Delivery System, eliminating the need for manual feeding of the viscosity tube, a comprehensive device that automatically filters the solution and delivers it into the capillary of the viscometer.
Automatic test completed; the system will automatically extract waste liquid and wait for the arrival of the next sample to automatically complete the capillary rinsing and testing.
When cleaning capillaries is required, simply activate the cleaning program, and the system will autonomously complete the entire process of washing fluid injection, soaking, recovery, cleaning, and drying, without the need for manual intervention.
1. System Structure
Ncy-xThe automatic viscosity measurement system consists of the following components:
1.1 NCY Test Unit, equipped with various sensors and paired with a central controller, can perform tests and also clean the capillary viscometer within the unit.
1.2 JWC series precision thermostatic baths for placement of test units, ensuring normal operating environment temperature (instruction manual included).
1.3 PY Series Automatic Mixture Instrument (optional, instruction manual included).
1.4 WR-2 Rapid Sample Dissolution Constant Temperature Oscillator (optional, manual included), equipped with a double set of sample dissolution bottles, operates at precise temperatures while effectively avoiding water interference during operation.
1.5 NCY-X Viscosity Automatic Measurement System, integrated into the central control system, provides an accurate measurement of the time taken for the solution to flow through a capillary.
1.6 Sample Inserter
Samples are dissolved in the solvent bottle and placed here. After the system initiates testing, the required solution will be automatically filtered through a sand core and sent to the capillary.
1.7 Washing System
Pre-set various cleaning fluids. Under the cleaning program for a specific unit in the central system, clean the viscometer, filter, and all fluid lines during the automatic testing. Upon completion of the cleaning, perform a drying process.
1.8 Commercial or industrial computers with a printer, keyboard, and monitor, etc., as terminals.
1.9 NCY-X Central Controller for Full-Automatic Viscosity Test System
Comprehensive automation of the entire system.
The entire system operates smoothly on a Chinese interface, powered by our independently developed software (Copyright owned).
In light of our developed and produced NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter, which has held an 80%+ market share domestically for nearly two decades, our upgraded NCY-X Automatic Viscosity Measurement System is now compatible with the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter. Use of the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter

As we have done for the past three decades, we continue to offer our vast user base products that feature our own
Intellectual property rights-protected product designs and hardware/software, thus, we still provide perfect after-sales service to a wide range of customers.
2. Layout of the automatic viscosity measurement system
This automated testing system is composed of several components, which can be arranged in various configurations according to the user's arrangement, but its basic principle is:
2.1 Ensure all pipeline distances are as short as possible while also considering practical operations such as filling and emptying. The cover image illustrates a typical reasonable layout.
2.2 The pipeline connecting from the central control unit to the viscometer must start from the central control system and gradually decrease, with no rise in the middle.
3. Sample Processing
3.1 Automatic Solution Preparation
See the PY Automated Mixture Instrument manual (optional accessories).
3.2 Quick dissolution of samples
Please refer to the instruction manual for the WR-2 Rapid Sample Dissolution Oscillator (optional accessory), featuring a sample dissolution flask with a double-layered jacket.
The dissolution process of the sample in the solvent can sometimes be very lengthy, taking up to one, or even more, hours. It requires oscillation at as high a temperature as possible to accelerate completion. Excessive temperature can lead to degradation, so the temperature should be precisely controlled.
4. Vacuum Pressure Adjustment
The automatic testing system operates under the influence of vacuum pressure. This system is equipped with different pressure sources specifically for the in-flow, testing, transmission of washing liquid, and drying. Different vacuum pressures need to be adjusted according to the solvent composition of the sample and washing liquid.
Vacuum Pressure Adjustment Method:
Two pressure gauges are located on the control system panel. The constant pressure gauge regulates and controls the working pressure of the sample solution, while the pump pressure gauge regulates and controls the working pressure of the washing liquid.

Vacuum pressure adjustment methods are as follows:
Press the mode key (left button), until L appears0-2 shows the current lower limit of the vacuum setting. Press the up and down keys to adjust the upper limit setting.
Press the mode key again to display H1After -2, the current maximum vacuum level is displayed. Press the up and down keys to change the maximum set value.
Note: The vacuum pressure value is negative.
5. Liquid Inlet & Testing
Prepare a clean empty solvent sample bottle, remove the solvent bottle containing the dissolved sample from the oscillator, pour half of its contents into the empty solvent bottle, and place them together in the corresponding sampling unit position.
During testing, only approximately 13mL of sample is required. Therefore, if rinsing is needed before testing, you will need to prepare about 26mL of solution at a time. Place the solvent bottle on the autosampler, press the rinse button for the corresponding unit, and the solvent bottle rack will advance. Stop when the previous solvent bottle (for rinsing) is in the liquid tube position, then the liquid tube descends and inserts into the volumetric flask, while the flask for the test sample is automatically sealed. After initiating the test, the testing system will automatically draw the solution from the solvent bottle, complete the rinse, and automatically discharge the liquid.
Keep pressing the test button, send another sample vial to the test position, and wait for the test to start. Once the test is complete, return the sample vial to the starting position.

Sample Solution Bottle Location
Wash Pot: Insert the liquid tube into the vial in front, and the mouth of the vial behind will automatically cover.
Test port: Insert the syringe into the vial at the back.
Test completed, reposition the solution bottle to the starting position.
After launching the test program for this unit on the computer, the unit automatically enters the working state. The subsequent work is performed automatically by the system. The operator can view the progress of the unit's test on the screen, and a dialog box will automatically pop up if any issues are encountered during the test.
Test completed, the system automatically discharges the waste liquid before proceeding to the next test.

6. Capillary Viscometer Cleaning and Drying
After a period of use, the viscometer should be cleaned.
Firstly, place a solvent vial into the solvent washing position (it can also be the test position) of the sampler, where the pipette automatically inserts into the bottom of the vial (this is very important!!)
Check and ensure there is an adequate supply of cleaning fluids and solvents, as well as potable water. Verify that containers for waste liquids and wastewater have sufficient remaining space.
Then, the entire cleaning-drying process can be initiated and completed.
Select "Wash Solution Immersion Cleaning" on the computer interface, the viscometer can complete the entire cleaning-drying process.
7. Routine Maintenance
7.1 Liquid Storage Bottle
Bottles storing liquids require regular attention to the liquid level. For waste liquid collection, timely cleaning is necessary when the level is high; for new liquid types, it's important to replenish promptly.
Remove the cap with care, ensuring the original state is maintained. Some may have a layer of polytetrafluoroethylene film attached to address corrosion issues. When reinserting the plastic tube, be sure to note the tube's numbering and the corresponding entrance indicated on the label. When replacing the cap, make sure it is tightly sealed and check for a proper seal.
7.2 Vacuum Pump
During operation, if the suction port of this type of vacuum pump maintains vacuum (low pressure), it may cause the oil pump to spray oil outward from the suction port. The machine has been equipped with a special program in the control system to prevent oil spraying. However, after a considerable period of use, the oil level will also decrease. When the oil level in the pump side's oil gauge is observed to be below "min," add vacuum pump oil to the oil gauge between the first and second graduation lines from the suction port.
