The Viscosity Measurement System is a specialized, automated testing equipment designed for determining the intrinsic viscosity, viscosity number, average molecular weight, and other characteristics of polymers. Depending on the number of test units configured in the system, it is categorized as NCY-X/2, NCY-X/4, and NCY-X/6, with corresponding configurations of two, four, and six test units, respectively. This allows for simultaneous use of two, four, or six viscometers.
UtilizeNcy-xViscosity Automatic Measurement System Ahead:
The measurement of the time required for a certain amount of solution, previously manually conducted, to flow through a capillary.
The determination of data validity, previously done manually,
Like the NCY automatic viscometer, it will still be executed by the system.
The system will still display the flow of the solution in the capillary viscometers within each unit in real-time and visually.
The system will still automatically retest and eliminate out-of-tolerance results, ensuring accurate flow time.
The system retains the JWC precision constant temperature baths, the outcome of our national scientific research project from the 1990s, and continues to deliver temperature fluctuations and distribution superior to ±0.01℃ over extended periods, ensuring consistency of test data at any moment and location.
In addition, the automatic testing system will also feature the following new functionalities:
Automated liquid preparation instrument with a precision of up to 0.1% concentration, capable of conveniently preparing sample solutions (one-touch liquid preparation).
Double-glazed vials with isolation design ensure that the prepared solutions dissolve rapidly and evenly in the precise, constant-temperature oscillating bath,不受水分干扰。
Automatic Liquid Delivery System, eliminating the need for manual feeding of the viscometer tube. The comprehensive device automatically filters the solution and delivers it to the viscometer capillary.
Automatic test completed; the system will automatically extract waste fluid and wait for the arrival of the next sample to automatically complete the capillary flushing and testing.
When cleaning capillaries is required, simply activate the cleaning program, and the system will autonomously complete the entire process of fluid injection—immersion—recycling—cleaning—drying, without the need for manual intervention.
System Structure
Ncy-xThe automatic viscosity measurement system consists of the following components:
1.1 The NCY testing unit, equipped with a variety of sensors and a central controller, is capable of conducting tests and also performing tasks such as cleaning the capillary viscometer within the unit.
1.2 JWC series precision temperature-controlled water baths for placement of test units, ensuring normal operating environmental temperature (instruction manual included).
1.3 PY Series Automatic Mixture Dispenser (optional, instruction manual included).
1.4 WR-2 Rapid Sample Dissolving Constant Temperature Oscillator (optional, instruction manual included), equipped with dual sample bottles, operates at precise temperatures, effectively avoiding water interference during operation.
1.5 NCY-X Viscosity Automatic Measurement System, included in the central control system, enabling the precise measurement of the time taken for the solution to flow through a capillary.
1.6 Sample Inserter
Samples are dissolved in the solvent bottle and placed here. After the system initiates testing, the required solution will be automatically filtered through a sintered core and sent to the capillary.
1.7 Cleaning System
Pre-set various detergents for cleaning, under the cleaning program for a specific unit in the central system, clean the viscometer, filter, and all fluid lines used during the automatic testing. After cleaning, dry the unit.
1.8 Commercial or industrial computers with a printer, keyboard, and monitor, etc., as terminal equipment.
1.9 NCY-X Automatic Viscosity Test System Central Controller
Comprehensive automation process for the entire system.
The entire system operates seamlessly on a Chinese interface using our independently developed software (Copyright owned).
In light of our developed and produced NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter, which has held an 80%+ market share domestically for nearly two decades, our upgraded NCY-X Automatic Viscosity Measurement System is now compatible with the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter. Use of the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter

As in the past three decades, we still provide our customers with our own
Patented product designs and hardware/software, thus, we continue to provide excellent after-sales service to a wide range of customers.
2. Layout of the Automatic Viscosity Measurement System
This automatic testing system is composed of several components and can be arranged in various configurations according to the user's setup, but its basic principle is:
2.1 Ensure all pipe distances are as short as possible, while also considering actual operations such as filling and pouring. The cover image illustrates a typical reasonable layout.
2.2 The pipeline connecting from the central control unit to the viscometer must start from the central control system and gradually decrease, without any rise in between.
3. Sample Handling
3.1 Automatic Solution Preparation
See PY Automatic Mixture Dispenser manual (optional accessories).
3.2 Quick Dissolution of Samples
See WR-2 Rapid Sample Dissolution Oscillator manual (accessory), featuring a sample bottle with double-layered jacket.
The dissolution process of the sample in the solvent can sometimes be very time-consuming, taking even one or more hours, and it needs to be shaken at the highest possible temperature to accelerate completion. Excessive temperature will lead to degradation, so precise temperature control is required.
4. Vacuum Pressure Adjustment
The automatic testing system operates under the action of vacuum pressure. This system is equipped with different pressure sources specifically for the fluid injection, testing, transfer of cleaning solution, and drying. The vacuum pressure needs to be adjusted differently based on the sample and the solvent components of the cleaning solution.
Vacuum Pressure Adjustment Method:
There are two pressure gauges on the control system panel: one for adjusting the working pressure of the sample solution with a constant pressure gauge, and the other for regulating the working pressure of the washing fluid with a pump pressure gauge.

Vacuum pressure regulation methods are as follows:
Press the pattern key (left button), until it shows L0-2 shows the lower limit of the current vacuum setting. Press the up and down keys to adjust the upper limit setting.
Press the mode key again to display H1-2 displays the current maximum vacuum level. Press the up and down keys to adjust the maximum setting.
Note: The vacuum pressure value is negative.
5. Inflow and Testing
Prepare a clean empty solvent sample bottle, remove the solvent bottle containing the dissolved sample from the oscillator, pour out half of its contents into the empty solvent bottle, and place them together in the corresponding sampling unit.
During testing, only approximately 13mL of sample is required. Therefore, if rinsing is needed before testing, approximately 26mL of solution should be prepared at one time. Place the solution bottle on the autosampler, hold down the rinse key for the corresponding unit, and the solution bottle holder advances. Stop when the previous solution bottle (for rinsing) is in the liquid tube position, then lower the liquid tube to insert it into the volumetric flask, while the volumetric flask for the test is automatically sealed. After starting the test, the testing system will automatically draw the solution from the solution bottle, complete the rinse, and automatically drain the liquid.
Continue holding the test button, another sample vial is sent to the testing station, waiting for the test to start. Once the test is complete, the sample vial is returned to the starting position.

Sample Solution Bottle Location
Wash Position: The liquid tube is inserted into the front beaker, and the opening of the rear beaker automatically covers it.
Test port: Insert the syringe into the vial at the back.
Test completed, solvent bottle returned to starting position.
After initiating the test program for this unit on the computer, the unit automatically enters the working state. The subsequent operations are performed automatically by the system. The operator can view the progress of the unit's test on the screen, and a dialog box will automatically pop up if any issues arise during the test.
Test complete. After the system automatically discharges the waste liquid, it proceeds to the next test.

6. Capillary Viscometer Cleaning and Drying
Viscometers should be cleaned after being used for a period of time.
First, place a solvent sample bottle in the rinsing position (or test position) of the sampler, and the pipette will automatically insert into the bottom of the bottle (this is very important!!)
Check and ensure there is an adequate supply of solvents like detergents and clean water, as well as sufficient remaining space in containers for waste liquids and wastewater.
Then, the entire cleaning-drying process can be initiated and completed.
Select "Wash Solution Immersion Cleaning" on the computer interface, and the viscometer can complete the entire cleaning-drying process.
7. Routine Maintenance
7.1 Liquid Storage Bottle
Bottles containing liquids require regular monitoring of the liquid level. For waste liquid collection, it is essential to clean up promptly when the level is high; for new liquid supplies, timely replenishment is necessary.
Remove the cap with care to maintain its original condition; some may come with a layer of Teflon film to address corrosion issues. When reinserting the plastic tube, be sure to note the tube's number and the corresponding inlet marked on the label. When replacing the cap, ensure it is tightly sealed for a proper seal.
7.2 Vacuum Pumps
During operation, if the intake of this vacuum pump maintains a vacuum (low pressure), it may cause the oil pump to spray oil outward from the intake. The machine has been equipped with a specific program in the control system to prevent oil leakage. However, after a considerable period of use, the oil level may decrease. When the oil level in the pump side indicator is below "min," add vacuum pump oil to the level between the first and second graduation lines of the indicator.
