The viscosity measurement system is a specialized, automated testing equipment designed and developed for the characteristic viscosity, viscosity number, average polymerization degree, and viscosity average molecular weight of polymers. Depending on the number of test units configured in the system, it is divided into NCY-X/2, NCY-X/4, and NCY-X/6 models, each with corresponding configurations of two, four, or six test units, allowing for simultaneous use by two, four, or six viscometers, respectively.
UtilizeNcy-xViscosity Automatic Measurement System Ahead:
The measurement of the time required for a certain amount of solution, previously handled manually, to flow through a capillary.
Originally, the determination of data validity was manually conducted.
Just like the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter, it will still be executed by the system.
The system will still instantly and visually display the flow of the solution in the capillary viscometers within each unit.
The system will still automatically repeat testing and eliminate out-of-tolerance results to obtain accurate flow time.
The system still incorporates the research project achievements from the 1990s that we possess—the JWC precision恒温槽—and will continue to provide long-term temperature fluctuations and distributions better than ±0.01℃. This ensures consistency of test data at any moment and location.
In addition, the automatic testing system will feature the following new functions:
An automatic liquid preparation instrument with precision up to 0.1% concentration, capable of conveniently preparing sample solutions (one-click liquid preparation).
Double-glazed vials with isolation design ensure that the prepared solutions dissolve rapidly and evenly in the precise, constant-temperature oscillating bath, without interference from moisture.
Automated Liquid Delivery System, eliminating the need for manual feeding of the viscosity tube. The comprehensive device automatically filters the solution and delivers it into the capillary of the viscometer.
Automatic test completed; the system will automatically extract waste liquid and wait for the arrival of the next sample to automatically complete the capillary rinsing and testing.
When it's necessary to clean capillaries, simply activate the cleaning program, and the system will autonomously complete the entire process of washing fluid injection — soaking — recovery — cleaning — drying, without the need for manual intervention.
System Structure
Ncy-xThe automatic viscosity measuring system consists of the following components:
1.1 NCY Test Unit, equipped with various sensors and a central controller, capable of performing tests and cleaning the capillary viscometer within the unit, among other tasks.
1.2 JWC Series precision water baths for unit placement, ensuring normal working environment temperature (instruction manual included).
1.3 PY Series Automatic Mixture Apparatus (optional accessory, instruction manual included).
1.4 WR-2 Rapid Sample Solving Constant Temperature Oscillator (optional, manual included), equipped with dual sample solution bottles, operates at precise temperatures, effectively avoiding moisture interference during operation.
1.5 NCY-X Viscosity Automatic Measurement System, integrated into the central control system, providing an accurate measurement of the time it takes for the solution to flow through a capillary.
1.6 Sample Inserter
Samples are dissolved in the solvent bottle and placed here. After the system is activated for testing, the required solution will be automatically filtered through a sand core and sent to the capillary.
1.7 Cleaning System
Pre-set various cleaning fluids. Under the cleaning program for a specific unit in the central system, clean the viscometer, filter, and all fluid lines during the automatic testing. After cleaning, perform a drying process.
1.8 Commercial or industrial computers with a printer, keyboard, and monitor, etc., as terminal equipment.
1.9 NCY-X Automatic Viscosity Test System Central Controller
Comprehensive automation of the entire system.
The entire system operates smoothly on a Chinese interface using our in-house developed software (Copyright reserved).
In light of our developed and produced NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter, which has achieved an occupancy rate of over 80% in the domestic market for nearly two decades, our upgraded NCY-X Automatic Viscosity Measurement System is now compatible with the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter. Use of the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter

2. Layout of the automatic viscosity measurement system
This automatic testing system consists of several components and can be arranged in various configurations according to the user's setup, but its basic principle is:
2.1 Ensure all pipe distances are as short as possible, while also considering actual operations such as filling and emptying. The cover image illustrates a typical reasonable layout.
2.2 The pipeline from the central control unit to the viscometer must start from the central control system and gradually decrease, without any rise in between.
3. Sample Processing
3.1 Automatic Solution Preparation
See PY Automatic Mixture Instrument Manual (optional accessories).
3.2 Quick Dissolving Sample
See WR-2 Rapid Sample Dissolution Oscillator manual (optional accessory), equipped with a double-layered sleeve dissolution bottle.
The dissolution process of the sample in the solvent can sometimes be quite lengthy, taking up to one or even more hours. It requires oscillation at as high a temperature as possible to accelerate the process. Excessive heat can lead to degradation, so the temperature needs to be precisely controlled.
4. Vacuum Pressure Adjustment
The automatic testing system operates under vacuum pressure. This system is equipped with dedicated pressure sources for the injection, testing, transfer of cleaning fluid, and drying. Different vacuum pressures must be adjusted according to the sample and the solvent composition of the cleaning fluid.
Vacuum Pressure Adjustment Method:
There are two pressure gauges on the central control system panel: one for adjusting and controlling the working pressure of the sample solution with a constant pressure gauge, and the other for adjusting and controlling the working pressure of the washing liquid with a pump pressure gauge.

Vacuum pressure adjustment method is as follows:
Press the mode button (left button) until "L" appears0-2 shows the current lower limit of the vacuum setting. Press the up and down keys to adjust the upper limit setting.
Press the pattern key again to display H.1After -2, the current upper limit of vacuum degree is displayed. Press the up and down buttons to change the upper limit setting.
Note: The vacuum pressure value is negative.
5. Inlet and Testing
Prepare a clean empty solvent sample bottle, remove the dissolved sample bottle from the oscillator, pour half of the contents into the empty solvent sample bottle, and place them together in the corresponding sampling unit position.
During testing, only approximately 13mL of sample is required. Therefore, if it's necessary to rinse before testing, you will need to prepare about 26mL of solution at a time. Place the solvent bottle on the autosampler, press the rinse button for the corresponding unit, and the solvent bottle holder will advance. Stop when the previous solvent bottle (used for rinsing) is at the pipette position. The pipette will then descend and insert into the volumetric flask, while the volumetric flask's mouth is automatically sealed. After initiating the test, the testing system will automatically draw the solution from the solvent bottle, complete the rinse, and automatically drain the liquid.
Keep pressing the test button, another sample vial is sent to the testing position, wait for the test to start. Once the test is complete, the sample vial is returned to the starting position.

Sample Solution Bottle Location
Wash Position: The liquid tube is inserted into the front beaker, and the mouth of the rear beaker automatically seals.
Test port: Insert the liquid tube into the vial at the back.
Test completed, reposition the solution bottle to the starting position.
After initiating the test program for this unit on the computer, the unit automatically enters the working state. The subsequent operations are performed automatically by the system. The operator can view the progress of the unit's testing on the screen, and a dialog box will automatically pop up if any issues are encountered during the test.
Test completed, the system automatically discharges waste liquid and proceeds to the next test.

6. Capillary Viscometer Cleaning and Drying
After a period of use, the viscometer should be cleaned.
First, place a solution bottle in the rinse position of the sampler (it can also be the test position), and the pipette will automatically insert into the bottom of the bottle (this is very important!!)
Check and ensure there is an adequate amount of cleaning fluids and solvents, as well as potable water. Verify that containers for waste liquids and wastewater have sufficient remaining space.
Then, you can initiate and complete the full cleaning-drying process.
Select "Wash Solution Immersion Cleaning" on the computer interface, the viscometer can complete the entire cleaning-drying process.
7. Routine Maintenance
7.1 Storage Bottle
Storage bottles require regular monitoring of the liquid level. For waste liquid collection, timely cleaning is necessary when the level is high; for new liquid types, timely replenishment is required.
When removing the bottle cap, note the original state of installation. Some may have a layer of polytetrafluoroethylene film attached, which is for addressing the corrosion issue of the cap. When reinserting the plastic tube, be sure to pay attention to the tube number and the corresponding entrance marked on the bottle label. When replacing the cap, ensure it is tightly sealed and check for a good seal.
7.2 Vacuum Pump
This type of vacuum pump, when in use, if the suction port maintains vacuum (low pressure), it may cause the oil pump to spray oil outward from the suction port. The machine has been equipped with a special program in the control system to prevent oil spraying. However, after a considerable period of use, the oil level will also decrease. When the oil level in the pump's oil gauge is observed to be below "min," oil should be added to the vacuum pump from the suction port until it reaches the second scale line on the oil gauge.
