Chemical cleaning descaling process:

Recirculating Closed Circuit Cleaning

Recirculating cleaning utilizes two existing parallel ash piping lines to form a loop, creating a recirculation system with the cleaning pump station. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, which circulates through the ash water pipes for cleaning. As the acid washing reaches a certain level, the acidic solution is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out while the system is shut down, and it is complex and costly.

Pilot cleaning

No two gray pipes should form a loop during cleaning; only single-pipe open circuit cleaning is allowed. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning unit, continuously preparing a specific concentration of cleaning solution in the liquid storage tank, and injecting it into the gray pipe continuously or intermittently. This process requires additional cleaning equipment during shutdown, resulting in higher costs.

Continuous cleaning without downtime

This process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution into the ash pipeline while the ash is being normally conveyed without interruption. Simultaneously, a specific amount of ash pipeline cleaning inhibitor and pipeline cleaning descaler is injected for operation. This is an open-circuit cleaning process. The primary role of the cleaning aid is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash scale at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also enhancing its solubility in water, reducing air blockage, and ensuring the quality of ash pipeline cleaning.

The procedure is as follows: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the descaling agent and pipeline cleaner by considering the sludge water flow rate and acidity. During the cleaning process, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take a sample at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning process can be deemed complete.

2. High-pressure water cleaning machinery:
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental friendliness, ease of operation, and safety.
High-pressure water technology boasts the following advantages.

(1) High-quality cleaning: During the high-pressure water jet cleaning of pipeline and heat exchanger bores, all scale and obstructions within the pipes are thoroughly removed, revealing the metal surface. The high-pressure water jet, with its immense energy and supersonic speed, is fully capable of destroying hard scale and obstructions without causing any damage to the metal.

High-pressure water cleaning will not damage the base material being cleaned, as the pressure is less than the compressive strength grade of the metal.

(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined actions of jet washing, wedge splitting, shearing, and abrasive cutting, scaling can be quickly broken and removed, which is several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting, ball shot peening, simple mechanical, and manual cleaning methods.

Additionally, parts cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface chemical must be rinsed off with clear water.

(3) No Environmental Pollution: As high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not generate a large amount of dust like sandblasting, grit blasting, or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the atmosphere and harm health. It also does not produce a large volume of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can contaminate rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning with pure water as the medium is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomization, it can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust from 80mg/m³ with other methods to below the national safety standards, thus causing no pollution.

3. Pipe Scale

(1) Classified by chemical composition, they can be categorized into carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.

(2) Categorized by physical properties, there are two types: scale that is firmly adhered to the pot shell and tube walls, and sediment that is loosely textured and easily detached.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts like calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. The thermal conductivity of lime scale is very low, about 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. Lime scale on the boiler's heating surface severely deteriorates heat transfer efficiency, affecting the boiler's performance; it can easily cause metal materials to burn due to localized overheating, even leading to pipe explosion accidents; it also accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion and speeding up the damage to the heating surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using mechanical or chemical methods.
