Chemical cleaning descaling process:

Recirculating Closed Loop Cleaning

Recirculation cleaning utilizes two original parallel ash pipelines to form a loop, creating a circulation system with the cleaning pump station. A solution of a certain concentration is added, and it circulates within the ash water pipes for cleaning. As the acid cleaning reaches a certain level, acid is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out during shutdown and is complex and costly.

Open Path Cleaning

No two gray pipes can form a loop during cleaning; only single-pipe open circuit cleaning is allowed. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning device, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the dosing tank, and then continuously or intermittently injecting it into the gray pipe. This process requires the addition of cleaning equipment during shutdown, resulting in higher costs.

Continuous operation cleaning

This process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while simultaneously introducing a specific quantity of ash-pipe cleaning inhibitor and pipeline cleaning descaler into the ash-pipe operation, performing an open-loop cleaning. The main function of the cleaning aids is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash scale at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also enhancing its solubility in water and reducing the occurrence of airlock, ensuring the quality of ash-pipe cleaning.

The procedure is as follows: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the descaling agent and pipeline cleaner by considering the sludge water flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take a sample at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be deemed complete.

2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental friendliness, ease of operation, and safety.
High-pressure water technology boasts the following advantages.

(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality: The high-pressure water jet cleaning of pipe and heat exchanger bores can thoroughly remove scale and blockages inside, revealing the metal substrate. With immense energy and moving at supersonic speeds, the high-pressure water jet is fully capable of destroying hard scale and blockages without causing any damage to the metal.

Due to the pressure of high-pressure water being less than the compressive strength grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the base being cleaned.

(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined effects of jet washing, wedging, shearing, and grinding, scale can be quickly broken and removed, making the cleaning process several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting, simple mechanical, and manual methods.

Components cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface chemicals must be rinsed off with clean water.

(3) Non-Pollution: Since high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not generate a large amount of dust like sandblasting, shot blasting, or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the atmosphere and harm health. It also does not produce a large volume of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can pollute rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning with pure water as the medium is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomization, it can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust from 80mg/m³ with other methods to below the national safety standards, thus causing no pollution.

3. Scale in Pipelines:

(1) Classified by chemical composition, they can be categorized into carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.

(2) Categorized by physical properties, there are two types: hard scale that firmly adheres to the pot shell and tube walls, and loose sediment that is easy to detach.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts like calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water precipitating and adhering to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, around 2 to 5 times less than that of ordinary steel. When lime scale accumulates on the boiler's heat transfer surface, it significantly worsens the heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can also easily cause metal materials to burn out due to localized overheating, even leading to pipe explosion accidents; it accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion, and speeding up the damage to the heat transfer surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using either mechanical or chemical methods.
