Chemical Cleaning Scale Removal Process

Recirculating Closed Loop Cleaning

Recirculating cleaning utilizes two existing parallel ash removal pipelines to form a loop, creating a recirculation system with the cleaning pump station. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, which circulates through the ash water pipeline for cleaning. As the acid washing reaches a certain level, the acidic solution is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out while the system is shut down, and it is complex and costly.

Open channel cleaning

During cleaning, it's crucial to avoid a loop formed by two grey pipes. Only a single grey pipe should be used for open circuit cleaning. The method involves connecting one end of the grey pipe to the cleaning unit, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the mixing tank, and then continuously or intermittently injecting it into the grey pipe. This process requires additional cleaning equipment to be added during shutdown, resulting in higher costs.

Continuous operation cleaning

The process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while the ash pipeline operates normally without interruption. Simultaneously, a certain quantity of ash pipeline running cleaning inhibitor and pipeline descaling agent is added for open-circuit cleaning. The main function of the cleaning aid is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and ash scale at a certain concentration and flow rate, while increasing its solubility in water and reducing the occurrence of air blockage, ensuring the quality of ash pipeline cleaning.

The procedure is as follows: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the descaling agent and pipeline cleaning agent by considering the sludge water flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take a sample at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be deemed complete.

2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental protection, ease of operation, and safety.

3. Pipe Scale

(1) Categorizing by chemical composition, there are various types such as carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; for sulfate and silicate scales, the primary components are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively. Mixed scale is often a mixture of the above three types.

(2) Classified by physical properties, there are two types: a) Scale that is firmly adhered to the pot shell and pipe walls, and b) Sediment that is loosely textured and easily detached.
Scale primarily forms due to the salts of calcium and magnesium present in the boiler feedwater, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. The thermal conductivity of scale is very low, approximately 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel.
