Chemical descaling process:
Recirculating Closed Loop Cleaning
Recirculating cleaning utilizes two existing parallel ash piping lines to form a loop, creating a circulating system with the cleaning pump station. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, which circulates through the ash water pipes for cleaning. As the acid washing reduces to a certain level, the acidic solution is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipes, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculating loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out while the system is shut down, and it is complex and costly.

Open Road Cleaning
No two gray pipes should form a loop during cleaning; only single gray pipe open-circuit cleaning is allowed. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning unit and continuously preparing a specific concentration of cleaning solution in the dosing tank, then continuously or intermittently injecting it into the gray pipe. This process requires adding cleaning equipment during shutdown, which increases costs.
Continuous cleaning without shutdown
The process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while operating, without stopping the normal ash transportation in the ash pipe. Simultaneously, a specific quantity of ash-pipe running cleaner and pipeline descaling agent is added. The cleaning is performed by opening the circuit. The main function of the cleaning aids is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash scale at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also increasing its solubility in water, reducing the formation of air blockages, and ensuring the quality of ash pipe cleaning.
The procedure is as follows: Prior to cleaning, estimate the required acid quantity based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate for the washing and corrosion inhibitor addition in the conveying pipe, based on the sludge water flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take a sample at the front of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take a sample at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be considered complete.
2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, non-polluting the environment, easy operation, and safety.
High-pressure water technology boasts the following advantages.
(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality: The high-pressure water jet cleaning for pipes and heat exchanger bores can thoroughly remove scale and blockages inside, revealing the metal substrate. The high-pressure water jet, with its immense energy and supersonic speed, is fully capable of destroying hard scale and blockages without causing any damage to the metal.
Due to the pressure of high-pressure water being less than the compressive strength grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the substrate being cleaned.
(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined action of abrasive washing, cleaving, shearing, and grinding from the water jet, scale can be quickly broken and removed, which is several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting, simple mechanical, and manual cleaning methods.
Components cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface needs to be rinsed with clean water.
(3) No Environmental Pollution - Since high-pressure water jet cleaning uses clean water as the medium, it does not produce large amounts of dust like sandblasting or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the air and harm health. It also does not generate a large volume of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can contaminate rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet, using clean water as the medium, is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomizing the jet, it can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust levels from 80mg/m³ with other methods to below the national safety standards. Therefore, it does not cause any pollution.

3. Pipe Scale: (1) Categorized by chemical composition, it includes carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively; mixed scale is mostly a mixture of the above three types.

(2) Classified by physical properties, there are two types: a) Scale that is firmly adhered to the pot shell and tube walls, and b) Sediment that is loosely textured and easily detached.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts of calcium and magnesium present in the boiler feed water, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, approximately 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. When lime scale forms on the boiler's heating surface, it significantly worsens the heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can easily cause metal materials to burn due to local overheating, potentially leading to pipe explosion accidents; it also accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion and speeding up the damage to the heating surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using either mechanical or chemical methods.
