A glass extraction tower is a rotary mixing tower-type extraction unit. A series of sieve plates (stationary rings) divide the tower into several stages along the axial direction. Between every two fixed sieve plates, there is a turbine-type mixer mounted on a rotating shaft. The turbine rotates within the compartments to generate characteristic flow patterns, keeping the fluid inside the tower in a turbulent zone. Due to the stronger shearing action of the turbine compared to a general disc, the mixing effect of the turbine mixing extraction tower is much more intense, which allows for thorough dispersion of droplets and is beneficial for mass transfer.
The extraction tower is a differential contact tower where the entire tower features continuous fluid contact. Two-phase separation occurs at the inlets and outlets. The model based on the droplet swarm theory better describes the fluid flow characteristics within this type of tower. The droplet swarm model is a comprehensive statistical description of the system, being a function of droplet size, concentration, and related properties in the dispersed phase.
GlassExtractive TowerThe separator consists of five main parts: oil-water separator (upper and lower), tower body, turntable system, feeding and discharging system, and electrical control system. The tower inner diameter and height are customized based on the customer's process material. Several static rings are set at certain intervals on the inner wall of the tower. The turbine (moving ring, turntable) is fixed on the central shaft, dividing the tower into several mixing zones. In each mixing zone, the liquid is mixed through the moving ring to achieve two-phase mixing. Each mixing zone serves as a theoretical stage, enabling multi-stage countercurrent contact and mixing of the two-phase liquids during the countercurrent process.
Work Process
The oil phase (light phase) enters from the bottom of the tower and overflows from the top; the water phase (heavy phase) is added at the top and exits from the bottom, flowing in opposite directions within the tower.
Turbine impeller: Provides necessary radial mixing and phase dispersion, with the design of the turbine blade optimized based on fluid dynamic research data to produce more uniform droplet sizes of the dispersed phase and to more accurately predict the flow characteristics of two-phase fluid mechanics.
Tray: Separated to form a single compartment, it can reduce the axial back-mixing of fluids while achieving a high residence time for the dispersed phase.
