A flame arrester is a safety device used to prevent the spread of flames from flammable gases and vapors. Typically installed in pipelines transporting natural gas or on ventilated tanks, it is a device that prevents the transmission of flames (explosions or detonations). It consists of a flame arrester core, the flame arrester housing, and accessories.
Fire arresters are commonly used on pipelines transporting flammable gases. If flammable gases are ignited, the flame can spread throughout the entire pipeline network. To prevent such dangers, fire arresters must also be employed. They can also be used on pipelines with open flame equipment to prevent backfire incidents. However, they cannot prevent the open flame combustion of flammable gases and liquids.
