REACH SVHC assessment reports have been officially updated to 233 items. On January 17, 2023, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) added 9 SVHC candidate substances to the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). As of now, the SVHC Candidate List has been officially updated to include 233 items.
Under REACH regulations, if a product contains SVHC substances and the concentration is >0.1%, and the annual export volume is <1 ton, it is mandatory to inform the downstream importer and provide relevant information, along with issuing relevant proof documents. If the product contains SVHC substances and the concentration is >0.1%, and the annual export volume is >1 ton, a notification must be submitted to ECHA.
SVHC stands for Substances of Very High Concern, which translates to Highly Concerned Substances in Chinese. These are substances that may have severe, often irreversible effects on human health and the environment and are identified as such. SVHCs originate from the EU's REACH regulation. The first SVHC list was published on October 28, 2008. As of the latest update, the list contains a total of 233 substances. In the future, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) will gradually add more substances to the SVHC list as needed.
