Pressure Sealant refers to a method of stopping leaks in pressure pipes and storage tanks containing or transporting media at any pressure above atmospheric, without stopping the flow or emptying the tank, by blocking the leak during the media splashing process inside. This often involves operations that can produce sparks, such as electric welding or grinding with an electric sanding wheel, as the term "pressure sealant" does not imply a fire-free approach. However, during actual sealing, flammable and explosive media may be present, which must not produce any sparks. Therefore, the term "pressure sealant" has been commonly changed to "fire-free pressure sealant" in China, which more clearly defines the industry's essence. Despite the preference for simplifying it to "pressure sealant," the term is now widely understood to mean "fire-free pressure sealant" in the minds of many. Since the pressure sealant industry lacks standardization, there are various names. Most people believe that pressure sealant refers to injection-type sealing, but in reality, injection-type sealing is just one of the technical processes in pressure sealant technology, as it is very limited to straight pipes and is ineffective in situations involving tees, elbows, reducers, flanges, or large storage tanks.
