Chemical cleaning descaling process:

Recirculating closed-loop cleaning

Recirculation cleaning involves using two existing parallel ash pipeline sections to form a loop, which, together with the cleaning pump station, creates a recirculation system. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, allowing it to circulate and clean within the ash water pipes. As the acid washing reduces to a certain level, the solution is continuously replenished with more acid. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to create a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out while the system is shut down, and it is complex and costly.

Open Path Cleaning

No two gray pipes can form a loop during cleaning; only a single gray pipe can be used for open circuit cleaning. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning unit and continuously preparing a specific concentration of cleaning solution in the blending tank, then injecting it into the gray pipe continuously or intermittently. This process requires additional cleaning equipment to be installed during shutdown, which increases costs.

Continuous operation cleaning

This process involves continuously injecting a specific amount of acidic solution while operating under normal ash输送 conditions without interruption. Simultaneously, a certain quantity of ash输送 tube cleaning inhibitor and pipeline descaling agent is added for operation. An open-loop cleaning is conducted. The main function of the cleaning additive is to facilitate the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash deposits at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also increasing its solubility in water and reducing the occurrence of airlock, ensuring the quality of ash tube cleaning.

The procedure is as follows: Prior to cleaning, first estimate the required acid quantity based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate for the ash removal and pipeline descaling agents based on the flow rate of the gray water and acidity. During cleaning, collect a sample at the front of the ash pipeline every 30 minutes to test the acidity, and strictly control the acidity by adjusting the flow rate of acid addition. In the later stage of cleaning, collect a sample at the end of the ash pipeline every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be considered complete.


2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental protection, ease of operation, and safety.
Advantages of high-pressure water technology include:

(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality: The high-pressure water jet cleaning for pipes and heat exchanger bores can completely remove scale and blockages inside, revealing the metal substrate. The high-pressure water jet, with its immense energy and supersonic speed, can effectively break down hard scale and blockages without causing any damage to the metal.

Due to the pressure of high-pressure water being less than the compressive strength grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the substrate being cleaned.

(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined crushing effects of water jet scouring, splitting, shearing, and grinding, scaling can be quickly broken and removed, which is several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting and shot peening techniques, simple mechanical, and manual cleaning methods.

Components cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface chemical must be rinsed off with clear water.

(3) No Environmental Pollution: Since high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not produce a large amount of dust like sandblasting, shot blasting, or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the atmosphere and harm health. It also does not generate a significant amount of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can contaminate rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning with pure water as the medium is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomization, it can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust levels from 80mg/m³ with other methods to below the national safety standards, thus causing no pollution.

Pipe Scale

(1) Classified by chemical composition, they include carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.

(2) Categorized by physical properties, there are two types: scale that is firmly adhered to the pot shell and tube walls, and sediment that is loosely textured and easily detached.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts like calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, approximately 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. When lime scale accumulates on the boiler's heating surface, it significantly worsens the heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can easily cause metal materials to burn due to localized overheating, potentially leading to pipe explosion accidents; it also accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion and speeding up the damage to the heating surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using mechanical or chemical methods.
