Chemical Cleaning Scale Removal Process

Recirculating Closed Loop Cleaning

Recirculating cleaning utilizes two existing parallel ash removal pipelines to form a loop, creating a recirculation system with the cleaning pump station. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, and the ash water flows in a recirculation pattern for cleaning within the pipeline. As the acid washing decreases to a certain level, the acidic solution is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out while the system is shut down, and it is complex and costly.

Pilot cleaning

No two ash pipes can form a loop during cleaning; only a single ash pipe can be used for open circuit cleaning. The method involves connecting one end of the ash pipe to the cleaning unit and continuously preparing a specific concentration of cleaning solution in the dosing tank, which is then continuously or intermittently injected into the ash pipe. This process requires the addition of cleaning equipment during shutdown, resulting in higher costs.

Continuous Operation Cleaning

The process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while the ash pipe is operating normally without interruption, simultaneously introducing a specific quantity of ash-pipe running cleaning inhibitor and pipeline descaling agent, and performing open-circuit cleaning. The primary function of the cleaning aid is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and ash deposits at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also increasing its solubility in water and reducing the occurrence of air blockages, ensuring the quality of ash-pipe cleaning.

Operation procedure: Before cleaning, estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline, then calculate the acid addition rate and sludge discharge pipe operation rate for the cleaning inhibitor and pipeline stripping agent based on the grey water flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take samples at the sampling point at the front of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity, and strictly control the acidity by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take samples at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be considered complete.


2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental friendliness, ease of operation, and safety.

Pipe Scale

(1) Categorized by chemical composition, they can be divided into carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.

(2) Categorized by physical properties, there are two types: scale that firmly adheres to the pot shell and pipe walls, and sediment that is loosely textured and easily detached.
Scale primarily forms due to the salts like calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water precipitating and adhering to the metal surface upon heating.
