Chemical cleaning descaling process:

Recirculating Closed Circuit Cleaning

Recirculating cleaning utilizes two existing parallel ash pipelines to form a loop, creating a circulation system with the cleaning pump station. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, which circulates through the ash water pipes for cleaning. As the acid washing decreases to a certain level, the acidic solution is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculating loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out during shutdown, and it is complex and costly.

Breakthrough Cleaning

No two ash pipes should form a loop during cleaning; only a single ash pipe should be used for open-loop cleaning. The method involves connecting one end of the ash pipe to the cleaning unit and continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the mixing tank, which is then continuously or intermittently injected into the ash pipe. This process requires additional cleaning equipment to be added during shutdown, which increases the cost.

Continuous operation cleaning

The process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic fluid while the ash pipe is operating normally and continuously conveying ash. At the same time, a certain amount of ash-pipe running cleaning inhibitor and pipeline descaler is added for open-circuit cleaning. The primary function of the cleaning aids is to promote the reaction between the acidic fluid and ash deposits within a specific concentration and flow rate, while also enhancing its solubility in water, reducing the formation of gas blockages, and ensuring the quality of ash pipe cleaning.

The procedure is as follows: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid quantity based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the descaling agent and pipeline cleaner by considering the sludge flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, test the pH value at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning process can be deemed complete.

2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, non-polluting to the environment, easy operation, and safety.
High-pressure water technology boasts the following advantages.

(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality: High-pressure water jet cleaning of pipes and the inner holes of heat exchangers can completely remove scale and obstructions from within the pipes, revealing the metal substrate. The high-pressure water jet, with its immense energy and supersonic speed, is fully capable of destroying hard scale and obstructions without causing any damage to the metal.

Due to the pressure of high-pressure water being less than the compressive strength grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the base material being cleaned.

(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined abrasive actions of water jetting, wedging, shearing, and grinding, scale can be quickly broken and removed, making the cleaning process several to over ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting, simple mechanical, and manual methods.

Components cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface chemical must be rinsed off with clean water.

Pipe Scale

(1) Classified by chemical composition, they include carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.

(2) Categorically classified by physical properties, there are two types: scale that is firmly adhered to the pot body and pipe walls, and sediment that is loosely textured and easily detached.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts like calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water that precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, approximately 2 to 5 times less than that of ordinary steel. When lime scale accumulates on the boiler's heating surface, it significantly worsens the heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can easily cause metal materials to burn due to localized overheating, potentially leading to pipe explosion accidents; it also accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion and speeding up the damage to the heating surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using mechanical or chemical methods.
