The rib direction of open-web and closed-web deck panels refers to the direction of force bearing after being folded into a certain shape. For open-web and closed-web decks, the rib direction is the direction of the raised creases.
The back of solid deck sheets is flat, while the back of hollow core deck sheets is corrugated, making installation more complex. The primary difference lies in the bearing strength of the sheets after molding. For solid deck sheets, the bottom is flat after molding, which is convenient for secondary construction. The lower end of hollow core deck sheets is also in an open concave shape, affecting aesthetics and increasing installation complexity.
Open-web floor decks come in various models and are highly utilized in actual construction projects. The core advantage of open-web floor decks lies in their affordability and high cost-performance ratio.
Open web steel joists are relatively to formwork:
1. Can serve as a structural strength support, whereas ordinary formwork requires dismantling.
2. Easy to lay rebar, install pipelines, and wiring tracks.
3. Saves raw material costs; reduces steel rebar usage; and since the open-web floor deck has less convexity, it can save up to 1/3 of the concrete.
4. Lightweight yet highly durable, with excellent抗震 and fire-resistant properties.
5. Simple and convenient installation, just place it directly on the steel beam and secure with bolts; it can also serve as a construction platform. Two to four people can cover 500 to 700 square meters, whereas the standard formwork is麻烦 and slow to install, with higher safety risks, and two to four people can only cover 200 to 400 square meters.
During the construction of open-profile steel plates, sealing plates and挡板 must be added to prevent leakage during the concrete pouring for floor slabs. Additionally, reinforcing steel needs to be tied, which prolongs the construction period. In contrast, for closed-profile plate construction, only a挡板 is needed, eliminating the requirement for a sealing plate. This reduces the likelihood of leakage on the construction site and also saves time in tying reinforcing steel. Closed-profile plates are less prone to deformation during installation, whereas open-profile plates can experience a reduction in height and an increase in width during transportation and installation. This necessitates adjusting for deformation during the installation process; otherwise, the reduced height could affect the cross-sectional properties and lead to construction accidents.
Open-web deck characteristics
1. Replace traditional templates, improve their shortcomings, and eliminate the need for disassembly and installation work associated with traditional templates.
2. Lightweight, high-strength, heavy-bearing capacity, and good seismic performance.
3. Can be part of the steel structure strength, reducing material costs.
4. Simple and quick construction, easy assembly.
5. Easy for reinforcement, wiring, and piping installation.
