The viscosity measurement system is a specialized, automated testing equipment designed for determining the intrinsic viscosity, viscosity number, average molecular weight, and other properties of polymers. Depending on the number of test units configured in the system, it is categorized as NCY-X/2, NCY-X/4, and NCY-X/6, corresponding to two, four, and six sets of test units respectively, which can simultaneously support the use of two, four, or six viscometers.
UtilizeNcy-xViscosity Automatic Measurement System Ahead:
The measurement of the time required for a certain amount of solution, previously manually handled, to flow through a capillary tube.
The original determination of data validity, which was previously done manually,
Like the NCY automatic viscometer, it will still be executed by the system.
The system will still display the flow of the solution in the capillary viscometers within each unit in real-time and visually.
The system will continue to automatically test and eliminate out-of-spec results repeatedly to obtain accurate flow-through time.
The system retains the JWC precision constant-temperature water bath, a product of our 1990s national scientific research project, and continues to provide a temperature fluctuation and distribution of better than ±0.01℃ over extended periods, ensuring consistency of test data at any moment and position.
In addition, the automatic testing system will also feature the following new functions:
Automatic dilution instrument with a precision of up to 0.1% for preparing sample solutions conveniently (one-touch dilution).
Double-layer glass isolation designed sample bottles, ensuring that the prepared solution dissolves quickly and evenly in the precise temperature oscillating bath without interference from moisture.
Automatic liquid delivery device, eliminating the need for manual feeding of the viscosity tube. The comprehensive unit automatically filters the solution and delivers it to the capillary of the viscometer.
Automatic test completed, the system will automatically extract waste liquid and wait for the arrival of the next sample to automatically complete the capillary rinsing and testing.
When cleaning capillaries is required, simply activate the cleaning program, and the system will autonomously complete the entire process of washing fluid injection – soaking – recovery – cleaning – drying, without the need for manual intervention.
1. System Structure
Ncy-xThe automatic viscosity measurement system consists of the following components:
1.1 NCY Test Unit, internally equipped with a variety of sensors, integrated with a central controller, capable of performing tests and tasks such as cleaning the capillary viscometer within the unit.
1.2 JWC series precision temperature-controlled water baths for placement of test units, ensuring normal operating environmental temperature (instruction manual included).
1.3 PY Series Automatic Mixture Dispenser (optional accessory, instruction manual included).
1.4 WR-2 Rapid Sample Solving Constant Temperature Oscillator (optional, manual included), equipped with a double set of sample bottles, operates at precise temperatures while effectively preventing water interference during operation.
1.5 NCY-X Viscosity Automatic Measurement System, integrated into the central control system, ensures precise measurement of the time taken for the solution to flow through a capillary.
1.6 Sample Inserter
Samples are dissolved in the solvent bottle and placed here. After the system initiates testing, the required solution will be automatically filtered through a sand core and sent to the capillary.
1.7 Cleaning System
Pre-set various detergents, and under the cleaning program for a specific unit in the central system, clean the viscometer, filter, and all fluid lines used during the automatic testing. Upon completion of the cleaning, a drying process is performed.
1.8 Commercial or industrial computers with printers, keyboards, monitors, and other terminals.
1.9 NCY-X Automatic Viscosity Test System Central Controller
Comprehensive automation of the entire system.
The entire system runs seamlessly on a Chinese interface with our self-developed software (Copyrighted).
In light of our developed and produced NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter, which has held an 80%+ market share in China for nearly two decades, our upgraded NCY-X Automatic Viscosity Measurement System is now compatible with the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter. Use of the NCY Automatic Viscosity Meter

2. Layout of the Automatic Viscosity Measurement System
This automated testing system consists of several components, which can be arranged in various configurations according to the user's arrangement, but its basic principle is:
2.1 Ensure all pipeline distances are as short as possible, while also considering practical operations such as adding and pouring liquids. The cover image illustrates a typical reasonable layout method.
2.2 The pipeline connecting from the central control unit to the viscometer must only go from the central control system downwards, without any rise in between.
3. Sample Handling
3.1 Automatic Solution Preparation
See the PY Automatic Mixture Instrument manual (optional accessories).
3.2 Quick Dissolution of Samples
Please refer to the instruction manual for the WR-2 Rapid Sample Dissolver Oscillator (optional accessory), featuring a sample bottle with a double-layer insulating sleeve.
The dissolution process of the sample in the solvent can sometimes be quite lengthy, taking one or even more hours, and requires oscillation at as high a temperature as possible to accelerate completion. Excessive temperature will lead to degradation, so precise temperature control is essential.
4. Vacuum Pressure Adjustment
The automatic testing system operates under vacuum pressure. This system is equipped with different pressure sources specifically for the injection, testing, transmission of cleaning fluid, and drying. Different vacuum pressures need to be adjusted according to the sample and the solvent components of the cleaning fluid.
Vacuum Pressure Adjustment Method:
There are two pressure gauges on the central control system panel: one for adjusting and controlling the working pressure of the sample solution with a constant pressure gauge, and the other for adjusting and controlling the working pressure of the wash solution with a pump pressure gauge.

Vacuum pressure adjustment methods are as follows:
Press the pattern key (left button) until L appears0-2, which shows the lower limit of the current vacuum setting. Press the up and down keys to adjust the upper limit setting.
Press the mode key again to display H1After -2, the current upper limit of vacuum degree is displayed. Press the up and down keys to change the upper limit setting.
Note: The vacuum pressure value is negative.
5. Inlet and Testing
Prepare a clean empty solvent sample bottle, remove the solvent bottle containing the dissolved sample from the oscillator, pour half of its contents into the empty solvent bottle, and place them together in the corresponding sampling unit position.
During testing, approximately 13mL of sample is required. Therefore, if rinsing is needed prior to testing, approximately 26mL of solution should be prepared at a time. Place the solvent bottle on the autosampler, press the rinse button for the corresponding unit, and the solvent bottle holder advances. Stop when the previous solvent bottle (used for rinsing) is at the position of the syringe. The syringe descends and inserts into the volumetric flask, while the flask's mouth is automatically sealed. After starting the test, the testing system will automatically extract the solution from the solvent bottle, complete the rinsing, and then automatically discharge the liquid.
Keep holding the test button, another sample vial sent to the testing position, wait for the test to start. Test complete, the sample vial returned to the starting position.

Sample solution bottle location
Wash Station: Insert the suction tube into the front beaker, and the opening of the rear beaker will automatically cover.
Test Port: Insert the liquid tube into the vial at the back.
Test completed, solvent bottle returned to starting position.
After initiating the test program for this unit on the computer, the unit automatically enters the working state, with subsequent operations performed automatically by the system. Operators can observe the progress of the unit's test on the screen, and a dialog box will automatically pop up when issues are encountered during testing.
Test completed; after the system automatically discharges the waste liquid, it proceeds to the next test phase.

6. Capillary Viscometer Cleaning and Drying
After a period of use, the viscometer should be cleaned.
First, place a solution vial in the rinse position of the sampler (it can also be the test position), and the pipette will automatically insert into the bottom of the bottle (this is very important!!)
Check and ensure there is an adequate supply of cleaning liquids and solvents, as well as potable water. Verify that containers for waste liquids and wastewater have sufficient remaining space.
Then, you can initiate and complete the entire cleaning-drying process.
Select "Wash Solution Soak Cleaning" on the computer interface, the viscometer can complete the entire cleaning-drying process.
7. Routine Maintenance
7.1 Liquid Storage Bottle
Storage bottles require regular monitoring of the liquid level. For waste liquid collection, timely cleaning is necessary when the level is high; for new liquid types, timely replenishment should be ensured.
Remove the bottle cap with care to maintain its original condition. Some may come with a layer of PTFE film, which is for the corrosion issue of the cap. When reinserting the plastic tube, make sure to note the tube's numbering and the corresponding entry marked on the label. Tighten the cap securely when replacing it, ensuring a proper seal.
7.2 Vacuum Pump
When using this type of vacuum pump, if the suction port maintains a vacuum (low pressure), it can cause the oil pump to spray oil outward from the suction port. The machine has a dedicated program set in the control system to prevent oil spitting. However, after a considerable period of use, the oil level will also decrease. When the oil level in the oil indicator on the pump side is below the "min" mark, add vacuum pump oil to the interval between the two oil level indicators at the suction port.
