Self-coupled dry-type transformer

Transformers specifically designed to supply power to various electric furnaces. Industrial electric furnace transformers are generally divided into three categories: resistance furnace transformers, arc furnace transformers, and induction furnace transformers. Electric furnace transformers are typically single-phase transformers. Due to the characteristics of the electric furnace heating material, the output voltage is usually lower, and the output current is higher, resulting in a leakage reactance that is smaller than that of a typical transformer. Some electric furnace transformers have multiple tap points on the primary side, allowing for coarse adjustment of the output current, which is then finely adjusted by the primary voltage regulator (inductive voltage regulator or thyristor voltage regulator). The difference between a furnace transformer and a distribution transformer lies in the very low output voltage of the furnace transformer, ranging from a few dozen to a couple of hundred volts, with a very high current, from thousands to tens of thousands of amperes. The voltage on the high-voltage side is usually 110 or 35kV, while the voltage ratio on the high and low sides of the distribution transformer is not as great. For example, street transformers are typically 10000/400V, while in a 35kV substation, it is 35/10kV, and in a 110kV substation, it is usually 110/35/10kV or 110/10kV. A transformer with a capacity of 250KVA can power a half-ton furnace, 500KVA for a ton, 800KVA for a 1.5-ton furnace. A 1600KVA transformer can power a five-ton furnace, a 2500KVA transformer for a ten-ton furnace, and a 6000KVA transformer for a fifteen-ton furnace.
