Description

Razor wire cages, galvanized razor wire cages, hot-dip galvanized razor wire cages – these are essentially iron wire mesh cages filled with stones, designed to securely position fill stones using a woven or welded wire mesh structure. They are a structural method for riverbank protection and ecological management in modern river and civil engineering projects. Razor wire cages are made by weaving or welding iron wire into a grid. These structures can be electro-galvanized, hot-dip galvanized, or hot-dip galvanized aluminum, and the woven wire boxes can be coated with PVC. Using weather-resistant and hard stone blocks as fill material, these cages do not break down quickly due to abrasion in the stone box or stone cage layout. Cages filled with different types of stone blocks have varying characteristics. Polygonal stone blocks can interlock well, and cages filled with them are less prone to deformation.
Riprap Mesh Structure Requirements: Riprap mesh is mechanically woven from high-corrosion-resistant, high-tensile, and ductile low-carbon steel wire (galvanized iron wire) or low-carbon steel wire coated with PVC. The box-like structure made from this mesh is known as a riprap mesh box. The diameter of the low-carbon steel wire used varies according to engineering design requirements, generally ranging from 2.0 to 4.0 mm, in accordance with ASTM and EN standards. The tensile strength of the riprap mesh wire should not be less than 38 kg/m², and the weight of the metallic coating is usually above 245 g/m². The diameter of the edge line of the riprap mesh sheet should generally be larger than the wire diameter. The length of the double twisted section must not be less than 50 mm to ensure that the metallic coating and PVC coating of the twisted wire are not damaged.
Advantages of Gabion mesh structure:
Flexible structures can accommodate changes in the slope without being damaged, offering superior safety and stability compared to rigid structures.
2. Strong erosion resistance, capable of withstanding water flow speeds up to 6 m/s.
3. The structure is inherently permeable, exhibiting strong tolerance to the natural action and filtration of groundwater. Sediments and silt in the water can settle in the crevices of the filled stones, thereby promoting the growth of natural vegetation and gradually restoring the original ecological environment.
Use of Stone笼Mesh:
Riprap mesh is used for slope support, foundation pit support, rock face mesh shotcrete on mountains, slope vegetation (greening), and isolation barriers for railways and highways. It can also be made into box-like structures and mesh pads, which are used for erosion protection of rivers, embankments, and sea dykes, as well as for reservoir and river cutoff nets. Due to its ecological protection characteristics, riprap mesh is affectionately termed ecological mesh and is a structural method for the management of water conservancy projects and ecological environment restoration in China.
1. River and flood control and guidance
Severe river disasters are caused by the erosion of riverbanks by flowing water, leading to widespread flooding that results in substantial losses of life and property, as well as massive soil and water erosion. Therefore, in addressing these issues, the use of the ecological grid structure has emerged as one of the solutions, providing long-term protection for riverbeds and riverbanks.
2. In channel canal bed construction:
The construction of channels involves the stability of slopes and riverbeds. Therefore, the use of ecological mesh structures, which have been the primary method for transforming many natural rivers and excavating artificial channels over the past century, is essential. It effectively protects riverbanks or riverbeds, controls water flow, and prevents water loss, particularly in environmental protection and water quality maintenance, serving as a function to restore the ecological environment.
3. In terms of embankment and slope protection:
The gabion mesh structure is a highly successful example in riverbank protection and slope foot defense, fully utilizing the advantages of the ecological mesh, achieving ideal effects that cannot be realized by other methods.
Galvanized Stone笼Mesh Material Classification:
Galvanized Steel Wire: Low carbon steel wire, wire diameter 2.0MM-4.0MM, tensile strength not less than 380Mpa, surface protected with hot galvanizing, the thickness of the galvanized layer is made according to customer requirements, and the galvanizing amount can reach 300g/m2 (electro-galvanized zinc coating is only about 10g).
2. Zinc-5% Aluminum-Mixed Rare Earth Alloy Wire (also known as Galfan) Wire: This is a new material emerging on the international scene, with corrosion resistance three times greater than traditional pure zinc-coated wire. The diameter of the wire can reach 1.0MM-3.0MM, and the tensile strength of the wire is not less than 1380Mpa.
3. Galvanized Steel Wire Coated with PVC: Low-carbon steel wire is coated with a layer of PVC protective sheath on its surface, then woven into various specifications of hexagonal mesh.
Galvanized-5% Aluminum-Mixed Rare Earth Alloy Wire with PVC Coating: The surface of zinc-5% aluminum-mixed rare earth alloy wire is coated with a layer of PVC for protection, then woven into various specifications of hexagonal wire mesh.
The advantages of gabion mesh in hydraulic engineering protection are:
Ideal ecological construction and restoration functions
The pores within the stone笼 mesh boxes and mats facilitate water flow, promoting natural exchange between water and soil, creating a habitat for aquatic life and microorganisms, thereby enhancing the water's self-purifying ability and protecting and improving water sources and quality. The voids in the filling material, either artificially laid soil layers or naturally deposited soil, create conditions for landscaping and vegetation growth, even without sowing seeds, leading to the optimization, beautification, and restoration of the environment.
2. Excellent permeability
Retaining walls and slope protection constructed with woven wire baskets, filled with loose materials, possess numerous pores which facilitate the drainage of backfilled soil and groundwater in the subsoil beneath the slope protection. Once surface water infiltrates the soil, it can be quickly drained through the masonry, effectively lowering the groundwater level and reducing the groundwater pressure behind the wall and beneath the slope. The structure of stone baskets in slope stabilization and debris flow prevention projects ensures timely drainage, minimizing the likelihood of wall damage. Additionally, the wall's excellent deformation capacity effectively mitigates the impact of sudden external forces.
3. Consistent and comprehensive permeability function.
The gabion mesh is made of a mechanical woven double twisted grid structure. Local damage will not cause overall destruction of the box or cage. The gabion mesh material has moderate deformation characteristics, integrating the entire project into a cohesive whole without the need for seams. Even if uneven settlement occurs, the overall structure will not crack or develop serious issues.
4. Simpler construction methods.
The gabion mesh technology can be factory-produced as semi-finished products according to design intentions. On the construction site, the assembly and shaping are done according to the design drawings, then laid on prepared soil slopes or excavated foundation pits to form retaining slopes or constructed into box-like retaining walls. Filling material is added, and the cover mesh is installed to complete. The operation is simple, minimally affected by weather conditions, and suitable for mechanized operations, ensuring both construction quality and speeding up the project progress. During the construction process of a construction unit, affected by the weather, workers originally assigned to build stone masonry retaining walls were transferred to work on the gabion mesh slopes.
5. Landscape effect.
The versatility of the stone笼net structure and the wide array of colors offer a variety of design options for different landscape requirements across regions. Combined with lawns and flower trees, it presents to us a green retaining wall or slope.
6. Excellent corrosion and durability resistance.
The wire used in stone笼 mesh is coated with a hot-dipped aluminum-zinc finish, ensuring a more stable surface coating and effectively reducing oxidation of the wire. After being treated with a resin film process, it boasts corrosion resistance, static dissipation, anti-aging, and anti-oxidation properties, significantly extending its service life. Tests have shown that when immersed in 30% hydrochloric acid solution for 10 days, the plastic shows no discoloration or cracking. This indicates that the material is reliable even in highly polluted areas. The lifespan of the wire coated with resin film can reach 70 years.
7. Excellent resistance to erosion and wind wave attacks.
The gabion mesh structure is highly effective for slope protection or retaining wall projects in rivers with strong currents. Experimental evidence shows that the anti-erosion coefficient of the gabion mesh structure is twice that of a typical rock pitching protection project. Even if the boulders within the gabion mat are displaced by the water flow, the deformed box structure achieves a new equilibrium, ensuring overall integrity is not compromised. The gabion mesh structure is flexible, with gaps between the stones or other materials inside the boxes. When waves crash against the structure, the foam is crushed, reducing the impact force of the wave pressure; as the wave crest recedes, the gaps in the box disrupt the vacuum suction force of the waves, further reducing the damage to the protective works. Additionally, the overall structure can self-adjust slightly under the force of waves, effectively preventing cracks from forming in the wall.
Common Structure Forms of Stone笼Mesh:
1. Gabion baskets - These are wire mesh baskets constructed from heavy-duty hexagonal wire, typically assembled from four panels of heavy-duty hexagonal wire. One large hexagonal wire panel forms the four large faces of a rectangular prism, with two small hexagonal wire panels at each end and a dividing mesh in the middle. Gabion baskets can also be made in triangular or trapezoidal shapes, and when stacked, form embankments with their slopes on a single plane.
Rubble mesh baskets are often used in hydraulic engineering for retaining walls. These retaining walls are constructed by stacking rubble mesh baskets from 0.5 to 1.0 meters in size. The rubble mesh baskets are primarily used on steep slopes for the control of mud and rock flows, preventing landslides, and for protecting road and railway subgrades. The reason for using rubble mesh baskets is their unique ecological function. By sprinkling a little soil on the protective surface, it can be greened. Due to the gaps between the stones, which can accommodate soil, it is conducive to the development of plant root systems, creating a favorable ecological environment. Even without adding soil, over time, the gaps between the stones will fill with sediment, allowing for the growth of herbaceous plants, forming a natural ecological environment. After the production of the rubble mesh baskets is complete, they can be捆扎compressed and packaged to save space.
2. Gabion mat, a heavy-duty hexagonal wire mesh cut and folded metal cage, features a thickness ranging from 0.15 to 0.5 meters, significantly smaller than the length and width of the gabion cage. The gabion mat is divided into individual cells by single or double dividers, and to enhance the structural strength of the gabion mat, the wire diameters at the edges of the mesh plates are relatively thick. Primarily used for river channels, riverbanks, road embankments, and coastal slope protection structures. It not only prevents riverbanks from being eroded by water currents and waves but also achieves natural convection between the water body and the soil beneath the slope, achieving ecological balance. The gabion mat can be sprinkled with soil for planting green vegetation, which can enhance the landscape greening effect on the slope.
3. Gabion retaining walls are constructed by stacking layers of gabion cages. The components of a gabion retaining wall are filled with stones of similar size within the wire mesh cages, creating a certain porosity. Due to the gaps between the stones, soil and water behind the masonry and under the slope can be drained, thereby lowering the water level and reducing the ground water pressure behind the wall and beneath the slope. Prompt drainage reduces the likelihood of the retaining wall being damaged, significantly extending its lifespan. Additionally, the wall's wire mesh cages are made of wire, allowing for some deformation. Moreover, the stones can also slide against each other, thus enhancing the wall's ability to withstand sudden external forces.
IV. Roadstone gabion meshes, available in two types: One type is for protecting roads, such as constructing a gabion retaining wall alongside the road to withstand floods and safeguard the road; another is for reinforcing the subgrade by using gabion mesh boxes. The other type is during road construction, placing heavy-duty hexagonal mesh as reinforcing mesh in the subgrade or concrete pavement to prevent cracking.
Five. Stone笼Rolls, woven into rolls of 30 to 50 meters, are directly laid on slopes for slope protection, preventing soil erosion and rock falls. They can also be used for slope support, foundation pit support, rock surface meshing for shotcrete, slope vegetation (greening), isolation barriers for railways and highways, and protection against erosion for rivers, embankments, and sea dikes.
Rocbasket operation:
1. Operation of stone笼mesh sinking, first involves sinking the stone笼mesh made of woven wire. It can also be electroplated and coated with PVC (polyvinyl chloride), and the PVC stone笼mesh sinking can also be used for shore protection and toe protection.
2. Stone boxes (box-shaped stone baskets). Mesh stone baskets are more flexible than welded ones, so their performance in adapting to settlement and load is different. Although filling the baskets with stone materials requires careful attention to ensure the stones are packed tightly, it is sometimes believed that rigid stone boxes are easier to fill. For non-standard shapes, such as bends or areas where significant settlement may occur, these structures are preferred when woven wire or polymer mesh frames can deform without losing strength.
3. The internal filling of stone笼weaves is composed of hard, weather-resistant stones that resist erosion and do not break down quickly in stone boxes or stone笼arrangements. Stone笼weaves filled with different types of block stones exhibit varying characteristics. Angular block stones interlock well, resulting in a笼that is less prone to deformation. Therefore, they are more effective in large retaining walls that resist shearing than round stones and are also beneficial for the connection of the笼. The general size of the filling is 1.5 times the average mesh size. Individual block stones are not less than the standard mesh size (commonly used woven stone笼sizes are 60mmx80mm to 100mmx120mm), and generally not larger than 200mm in standard size. For block stones filled away from the surface of the笼and within its interior, the size requirements for smaller stones may sometimes be relaxed.
4. Internal Filling. Mechanical filling is generally faster and cheaper, but it is not as well-controlled as manual filling. For decorative retaining walls, a better appearance and a dense structure should be achieved. When using either method, the filling material must completely fill the cage. The filling material must be packed well to minimize voids, ensuring good contact between individual stones, as tightly as possible, and to reduce the possibility of stone movement within the cage. Both polygonal and round stones can be packed tightly when the filling material size is within the normal range, and additional soil can be added if needed.
