Spiral winding is a type of winding where a spiral winding machine is used to wrap resin-soaked wire or tape in a helical pattern during the molding of reinforced plastics. The mandrel is rotated at a constant speed, and the winding head travels back and forth along the axial direction of the mandrel at a certain speed. Adjusting the speed ratio can achieve different winding patterns. Generally, under the satisfaction of process conditions, the spiral winding angle should be as small as possible, which is beneficial for the product to withstand axial stress. This method is suitable for manufacturing cylindrical, spherical products, such as gas cylinders, corrosion-resistant pipelines, and other pressure vessels.
