Forging quality inspection items are as follows:
(1) Geometric Shapes and Dimensions
General forging dimensions are measured using steel rulers, calipers, templates, and other measuring tools; for complex-shaped die forgings, the marking method can be used for inspection.
(2) Surface Quality
If there are cracks, dents, or folding defects on the forging surface, they are generally visible to the naked eye. Sometimes, the cracks may be very small, and the depth of the fold may be uncertain; in such cases, observe after cleaning and scraping. If necessary, an ultrasonic inspection method can be used.
(3) Internal Organization
Is there any crack, inclusion, porosity, or other defects in the forgings, which can be inspected visually or under a magnifying glass of 10 to 30 times on the forging cross-section for macrostructure. A commonly used method in production is acid etching inspection, where a sample is cut from the area of the forging that needs to be checked and soaked in an acid solution to clearly reveal the defects in the macrostructure of the断面, such as forging flow lines, cracks, and inclusions.
