Forging quality inspection items are as follows:
(1) Geometric Shape and Dimensions
General forgings are inspected for their外形 dimensions using steel rulers, calipers, templates, and other measuring tools; for complex-shaped die forgings, the marking method can be used for inspection.
(2) Surface Quality
Surface cracks, indentation, or folding defects on forgings are generally visible to the naked eye. Sometimes, cracks may be small, and the depth of the fold may be uncertain; in such cases, observe after cleaning and scraping. Inspection methods can be used if necessary.
(3) Internal Organization
Internal defects such as cracks, inclusions, and looseness in forgings can be inspected visually or under a magnification of 10-30 times on the macrostructure of the forging cross-section. A commonly used method during production is acid etching inspection, where a sample is cut from the part of the forging that needs to be inspected, and after soaking in an acid solution, the macrostructure defects on the cross-section, such as forging flow lines, cracks, and inclusions, are clearly displayed.
