Ball valves, stop valves, and gate valves with plastic pipe plugs are to be fully open or fully closed only; they are not to be used for flow regulation to prevent erosion of the sealing surfaces and accelerated wear. Gate valves and top-threaded stop valves are equipped with reverse-sealing devices. By rotating the handwheel to the top position and tightening it, leakage of the packing medium can be prevented.

4. Use the handwheel to plug the plastic pipe. Do not rely on levers or anything else to prevent damage to the valve parts. Clockwise rotation of the handwheel closes it; counterclockwise opens it.
