The gear ring is fitted onto the outer edge of the flywheel after being heated and then secured in place upon cooling. It is used to mesh with the starter gear, driving the crankshaft to rotate and start the engine.
1) When starting the engine, a damaged gear ring can occur due to impact between the starter gear and the flywheel toothed ring, or poor engagement between their teeth.
2) The starter's power connection was too early, causing the starter gear to collide with the flywheel teeth.
