Lignin Fiber

Lignin fiber is an organic fiber primarily used in road paving and serves as an indispensable stabilizer. Lignin fiber is usually fluffy, but in some cases, such as in Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) road surfaces, the lignin fiber used as a stabilizer is granular.

Lignin fiber is an organic fiber obtained through chemical processing of natural wood, appearing as cotton-like, white or grayish white in color. It is processed through screening, splitting, high-temperature treatment, bleaching, chemical treatment, neutralization, and sizing into fibers of different lengths and thicknesses to meet the requirements of various application materials. Due to its processing temperature exceeding 250°C, it is chemically very stable under normal conditions, resistant to corrosion from common solvents, acids, and bases. It boasts excellent qualities such as being non-toxic, odorless, pollution-free, and non-radioactive, affecting neither the environment nor human health, and is a green and environmentally friendly product, a characteristic not found in other mineral fiber types. The microscopic structure of the fiber is striated, uneven, and porous, with flat intersections, demonstrating good toughness, dispersion, and chemical stability, strong water absorption capacity, and excellent thickening and crack resistance properties.

Broadly used in asphalt roads, concrete, mortar, gypsum products, wood pulp sponge, and other fields, it has a good effect on preventing coating cracking, improving water retention, enhancing production stability and construction suitability, increasing strength, and improving adhesion to the surface. Its technical functions mainly include: thixotropy, protection, absorption, carrier, and filler. In pavement laying, the fiber stabilizer uses lignin fiber, which is processed into fluffy fiber or granular fiber in the factory.
