The thin-film dryer can act as a reboiler, combining a distillation column with a certain number of theoretical trays to separate two components with close boiling points.
The film dryer can dry products in a dissolved, slurry, crystalline, or amorphous state into a powder that is easy to pour.
The film dryer includes a vertical or horizontal heated drum, inside which the raw material is evenly scraped into a turbulent liquid film by a rotating scraping system. The thickness of the liquid film is determined by the distance between the scraping plate and the evaporation surface.
A high-turbulence liquid wave similar to the bow wave of a ship forms in front of the scraper; this wave ensures continuous mixing of the product. The lighter phase evaporates from the liquid film until the bottom surface of the evaporator is covered by dried product, which is scraped off the inner wall by the scraper blades and discharged from the bottom of the evaporator. Depending on the application and product properties, the film dryer can be designed as either a vertical or horizontal evaporator.
Application:
Glycerin recycling
Catalyst recycling
Organic Paint
Wastewater Treatment
Recovered solvent from waste liquids
Select the material for the contact area with the product based on the material's corrosiveness and reactivity.
Process development conducted at the VTA testing center:
At VTA's testing center, feasibility studies and pilot tests can be conducted using thin-film dryers, and mass production can also be carried out on laboratory or pilot-scale equipment. VTA offers laboratories, pilot-scale, and industrial skid-mounted units. All core components, such as evaporators, condensers, tanks, and pipelines, will be manufactured using modern equipment by highly skilled workers within VTA or the STREICHER Group. All construction work will be completed in the VTA workshop, ensuring smooth project execution and minimizing interface areas.
