Dust refers to solid particles suspended in the air. According to the International Organization for Standardization, solid particles with a diameter less than 75μm are defined as dust. The presence of dust in the atmosphere is one of the main reasons for maintaining Earth's temperature. An excessive or insufficient amount of dust in the atmosphere can have catastrophic effects on the environment. However, in daily life and work, productive dust is a foe to human health and is a major cause of various diseases.
Primary sources of productive dust include:
Solid particles formed through mechanical impact, abrasion, and rolling, suspended in the air by the action of air currents.
(2) Fumes formed by condensation or oxidation of steam produced during the heating of substances.
(3) Smoke formed from incomplete combustion.
Methods for dust control include bag dust collection, wet ventilation dust removal, water or spray dust removal, and biological nanofilm dust suppression, among others.
