Shipper pays destination duties and taxes To further facilitate the export process of express shipments, DHL can arrange for the sender or a third party to pay for any duties, taxes, or customs fees incurred at the destination. This eliminates the recipient's responsibility for these charges. As long as the sender requests that duties, taxes, or other customs fees be paid outside of the destination country or region, the payment can be settled with the sender or a third party.
Special Pickup and Delivery: If you need to ship or deliver irregular cargo, we can arrange for a special vehicle to pick up or deliver.
We recommend purchasing high-value or personal goods insurance for express shipments to ensure protection against potential loss or damage. Additionally, you can opt for express value insurance based on the goods' value for enhanced peace of mind.

DHL Expands Air Freight Capacity in New Zealand and Australia Recently, DHL Express has commenced an upgraded overnight direct freight service connecting Auckland, New Zealand, and Melbourne, Australia, enhancing its trans-Tasman air freight capabilities. The new dedicated freighter operates five flights per week, each carrying 34 tons more than the previous 737 model. With the larger aircraft cargo hold, the wide-body design can accommodate 24 Unit Load Devices (ULDs) on the main deck, compared to the maximum of 11 for the 737. The expanded capacity supports the trade needs and growth between the two countries. Mark Foy, Managing Director of DHL Express New Zealand and Pacific Islands, said: "The company is delighted to announce the arrival of the upgraded dedicated freighter connecting Auckland and Melbourne. As freight volumes between New Zealand and Australia grow, this aircraft will ensure reliable service performance and efficiency, reinforcing our commitment to supporting trans-Tasman trade." Moreover, due to its ability to fly at higher altitudes and speeds, the aircraft has improved fuel efficiency. This provides a faster and more reliable freight delivery route for businesses in New Zealand and Australia, benefiting from a single-day freight transit time in major urban areas. The new DHL-branded aircraft strengthens DHL's existing trans-Tasman air freight capabilities, similar to the current DHL Express Auckland to Sydney freighter model, which will now add a flight to Christchurch. Mark Foy noted: "This new freighter improves connectivity for New Zealand businesses, as it complements our current 'Auckland-Sydney' route and adds a stop in Christchurch. The connection between the North and South Islands provides much-needed freight capacity to meet the growing freight volumes we are seeing. The company is confident in better supporting New Zealand businesses through our international distribution network."
DHL Deploys Smart Parcel Handling in the UK DHL is constructing a £230 million (US$245 million) processing center in Coventry, UK, which is expected to create over 600 jobs in the region. Located south of Coventry Airport, the center is set to be completed by summer 2024. Once operational, it will handle up to 500,000 items daily, featuring secure bonded storage and customs capabilities to support international e-commerce. To ensure sustainability, the facility is equipped with 7,000 square meters of solar panels, electric vehicle and LGV charging stations, LED lighting, and landscaping to preserve the region's biodiversity. As this facility will double DHL's processing capacity, it also features mechanization to improve parcel handling. This investment in Coventry is part of DHL's £482 million (US$515 million) commitment to boost its UK business. DHL Parcel UK's executive said, "The company is delighted to see this major project moving forward. Coventry's location makes it a gateway to the rest of the country, with 90% of UK postcodes reachable within four hours, making it the ideal location for our fast and high-quality service. With our existing center and headquarters located in nearby Leamington on the River Dene, we are proud to continue investing in the region, creating new jobs, and laying the blueprint for sustainable development."
