The universal joint type bellows expansion joint consists of a bellows tube, a balancing ring, and a flexible component made up of two hinge plates connected to the balancing ring and end tubes. It is typically used in pairs, either two universal joint types or two universal joint types with one single hinge, suitable for "L" and "Z" type piping systems. It primarily compensates for the composite displacement of multi-plane bending pipe sections through angular deflection. Due to the ability of the balancing ring, pin shaft, and hinge plate to withstand pressure thrust and other additional external forces, the expansion joint absorbs internal pressure thrust without exerting external force on the pipeline, thus simplifying the pipeline support setup. To ensure defect-free future product use for our customers, all hinge plates and balancing rings of our universal joint type products meet safety thickness requirements, guaranteeing the ability to withstand significant pipeline pressure thrusts during future operation.
Multi-directional hinge type bellows expansion joint features: Primarily compensates the composite displacement of multi-plane bending pipe sections through angular deflection. Due to the balancing ring, pin shaft, and hinge plate being capable of withstanding pressure thrust and other additional external forces, the expansion joint itself absorbs internal pressure thrust without exerting external force on the pipeline, thereby simplifying the pipeline support setup. The multi-directional hinge bellows compensator can compensate for any upward angular displacement of the pipeline. The multi-directional hinge type expansion joint differs from the hinge type in that it has a multi-directional ring with two pairs of mutually perpendicular hinge structures around it, allowing it to absorb angular displacement in any plane. When absorbing displacement, two or three units may need to be used in combination.
Directional hinge-type bellows expansion joints application range: To be used in various complex piping systems, compensating angular displacements of various spatial piping systems, such as L-shaped pipes, Z-shaped pipes, U-shaped pipes, etc.

In a multi-plane piping system, a "Z"-shaped pipeline designed with two swivel expansion joints is an excellent solution. As shown in the figure, the swivel expansion joints can absorb thermal expansion across two different planes while also accommodating pressure thrust. The thermal expansion within the branch pipe has been absorbed by the flexibility of the horizontal pipeline itself. The plane conduit assembly shown in the figure controls vertical displacement. The intermediate supports are used to absorb low compensation forces within the system.

When the flexibility of a horizontal pipeline is insufficient to accommodate the thermal expansion of the branch lines, this multi-plane pipeline system is often employed. As shown in the figure, to adapt to this thermal expansion displacement, a hinge-type expansion joint is used in conjunction with two swivel expansion joints.
