Air Cooler Brief Description:
Air coolers are primarily used in metallurgy, electricity, chemical industry, mining, and light industrial machinery sectors, especially in areas where water is scarce or severely polluted by industrial use. As air coolers replace cooling liquids with air, they reduce industrial water consumption and eliminate pollution, thus making them widely applicable. In power plants, air coolers are mainly used in closed-loop circulating ventilation cooled generators and motors, where they can cool the medium after absorbing heat, allowing for the medium to be reused.

Lianyungang Huaneng Power's newly launched KN-type air-cooled heat exchanger features a bimetallic rolled foil structure, offering excellent cooling performance and vibration resistance. It effectively controls the generator's temperature rise within 105°C, serving as an efficient cooler using circulating water from power plants and widely adopted in generator sets over the years. Compared to the spiral air-cooled heat exchangers, the key advantages of the bimetallic copper-aluminum composite foil air-cooled heat exchangers are: a larger heat dissipation area (increased by 50%), higher cooling capacity (increased by 20-30%), lower air resistance (reduced by 20%), and its performance remains essentially unchanged over time, making it an ideal replacement for spiral spring air-cooled heat exchangers.

Air cooler structural style.
Air coolers are composed of tube bundles, through which cooling water flows. The air to be cooled circulates between the tube bundles to achieve cooling. To increase the contact area between the water pipes and the air, enhancing heat transfer, many aluminum alloy finned plates or spiral fin radiators are mounted on the external surface of the cooler's water pipes. For the convenience of checking, repairing, and installing large air and cooling systems, an optimized air cooler design is divided into 4 columns and 8 groups. Typically in dual or single-pass configuration, when the incoming coolant temperature exceeds 30°C, the cooling effect of the air within the cooler significantly diminishes, thereby affecting the generator's output. Consequently, in hot summer regions, it's advisable to use industrial water with a lower incoming temperature as the cooling source for air coolers.
