Introduction to the New LED Light ERP Certification Directive (EU) 2019/2020

The European Commission established the official version of the Eco-design Regulation for Lighting and Independent Control Gear (EU) 2019/2020 on October 1, 2019, which was officially published on December 5, 2019. It will be enforced and replace the previous regulations (EC) 244/2009, (EC) 245/2009, and (EU) 1194/2012 on September 1, 2021, implementing the ErP Directive (Directive 2009/125/EC).

This regulation establishes specific limit values, including: energy efficiency requirements, functional requirements, and information requirements.

Scope of Application - New ERP for LED Lighting Standards

Luminaires and light sources for lighting purposes (excluding LED chips and LED packages).

New ERP Implementation Time - New ERP for LED Lighting

The new ERP directive (EU 2019/2020) will be enforced from 2021.09.01.

2. The expiration date for the old ERP directive (EU 1194/2012 & 244/2009) is September 1, 2021.

New ERP Exempted Products - LED Lighting New ERP:

Luminaires for use in potentially explosive environments

2. Emergency Lighting

3. Lighting for radioactive and nuclear facility use

4. Military and civil defense facilities, equipment, ground vehicles, marine equipment, or lighting used inside or on aircraft

5. Lighting fixtures for vehicles (bicycles, cars, ships, airplanes, traffic signals, etc.)

6. Instruments as specified in European directives

7. Battery-powered lighting or solar-powered lighting

8. Decorative Lighting Fixtures

9. Luminous flux of lighting less than 60lm, greater than 82000lm

New ERP Certification Process - LED Lighting New ERP

Communicate and understand the client's ERP certification requirements.

2. Confirm certification contract, complete the certification service application form.

3. Provide product specifications and a list of differences.

4. Send samples, conduct tests, and issue reports

5. Register ERP with the test report and download the QR code energy label.
