PA66 Plastic Raw Material
I. Product Introduction
PA66 plastic raw material is a semi-transparent, white, or black crystalline polymer polyamide resin, known as polyamide in English, abbreviated as PA. Commonly referred to as nylon (Nylon), it is a general term for high polymers with amide groups in the main chain of macromolecules, which is a product with high output, diverse types, and wide applications among the five major engineering plastics.
It has plasticity. Density: 1.15 g/cm³. Melting point: 252°C. Brittle temperature: -30°C. Thermal decomposition temperature: greater than 350°C. Continuous heat resistance: 80-120°C, equilibrium moisture absorption rate: 2.5%. Resistant to acids, alkalis, most inorganic salt solutions, halogenated alkanes, hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, etc., but soluble in polar solvents like phenol, formic acid, etc. It boasts excellent wear resistance and self-lubricating properties with high mechanical strength. However, it has high water absorption, leading to poor dimensional stability. PA66 is a high-mechanical strength, widely used variety in the PA series due to its high crystallinity, thus it has high rigidity and heat resistance.
Polyamide resin, commonly known as PA, is a general term for high polymers whose main chain repeating units contain amide groups. It is colloquially referred to as Nylon. It is one of the five major engineering plastics, characterized by its large production volume, diverse varieties, and broad applications.
The main types of nylon are nylon 6 and nylon 66, which dominate the market. Nylon 6 is polyhexamethylene adipamide, while nylon 66 is polyhexamethylene sebacamide. Nylon 66 is 12% harder than nylon 6. Next come nylon 11, nylon 12, nylon 610, nylon 612, and others such as nylon 1010, nylon 46, nylon 7, nylon 9, and nylon 13. New varieties include nylon 6I, nylon 9T, and special nylon MXD6 (barrier resin). There are numerous modified nylon types, such as reinforced nylon, molding compound nylon (MC nylon), reaction injection molding (RIM) nylon, aromatic nylon, transparent nylon, high-impact (ultra-tough) nylon, electroplated nylon, conductive nylon, flame-retardant nylon, and nylon blends and alloys with other polymers to meet various special requirements. They are widely used as substitutes for traditional materials like metals and wood.
II. Features
Nylon, as a widely used engineering plastic, is extensively employed in fields such as machinery, automotive, electrical appliances, textile equipment, chemical industry equipment, aviation, metallurgy, and more. It has become an indispensable structural material across various industries, characterized by the following main features:
Superior mechanical properties. Nylon has high mechanical strength and good toughness.
2. Excellent self-lubricating and wear-resistant properties. Nylon boasts good self-lubricating properties with a low friction coefficient, thereby extending its service life as a transmission component.
3. Excellent heat resistance. High crystalline nylons like Nylon 46 have a high heat deflection temperature, allowing for long-term use at up to 150℃. After being reinforced with glass fibers, PA66 achieves a heat deflection temperature above 250℃.
4. Excellent electrical insulation properties. Nylon has a high volume resistance and high breakdown voltage, making it an excellent electrical and electrical insulation material.
5. Excellent weather resistance.
6. Absorbency. Nylon has high absorbency, which can reach over 3% when fully saturated. It can affect the dimensional stability of the products to some extent.
III. Applications
High-temperature electrical plug components, electrical parts, gears, bearings, rollers, spring brackets, pulleys, bolts, impellers, fan blades, propellers, high-pressure sealing washers, valve seats, oil supply pipes, oil storage containers, ropes, ties, drive belts, sanding wheel adhesives, battery boxes, insulated electrical components, wire cores, and drawing wires.
