OMNISCAN MX2 phased array instrument for carbon steel pipeline and flat weld inspection
The Olympus OMNISCAN MX2 is a modular phased array inspection system featuring both TOFD and phased array series modules, catering to diverse customer needs. It also allows for upgrading from lower to higher functionality modules, thereby saving customers' costs.
The applications of OMNISCAN MX2 are very extensive, including:
Carbon Steel Weld Seam TOFD and Phased Array Inspection
Phased Array Corrosion Detection
Composite Material Phased Array C-Scan
Stainless Steel Weld Seam TOFD and Phased Array Inspection
Bolt Phased Array Inspection
The following will briefly introduce its detection application in carbon steel weld seams.
Olympus' versatile weld inspection solutions utilize a variety of technologies for productive and efficient testing of plates and pipes with outside diameters of 4.5 inches or more. Techniques such as phased array, diffraction time-of-flight, and conventional ultrasound can be used individually or combined to cover the entire weld and achieve a high detection rate.

This solution can utilize various scanning methods to obtain accurate data for defect location and quantification. The scanner boasts excellent stability and coding performance, ensuring compliance with standard requirements and delivering higher-quality detection data. Different scanners are needed when scanning manually, manually coding, semi-automatically, or automatically and collecting data.
Olympus' carbon steel weld inspection solution integrates Olympus' collection equipment, scanners, probes, and customized software tailored to the user's needs. This solution enables the quantitative measurement of defect length and depth for acceptance/rejection decisions based on specifications.
Composite Scanner
Utilize the updated Olympus NDT SetupBuilder software for single-group composite scanning

The combined area covered by two sector scan combinations is equivalent to the area covered by a single composite scan.

An individual composite scan covers an area equivalent to two sector scans.
The Olympus NDT SetupBuilder update software offers the performance for composite beam scanning. This innovative detection strategy combines both sector and linear beams for inspection, featuring numerous advantageous characteristics such as:
Higher detection rate
Inspection for thicker materials
Faster testing speed
Reduced setup and calibration time
Faster data analysis
Weld Seam Series PA Probes and Wedges
A31 and A32 phased array probes and wedges for carbon steel inspection
The A31 and A32 phased array probes and wedges offer unique features, enabling higher detection levels.
Improved signal-to-noise ratio
Ergonomically designed
Enhanced coupling efficiency
Composite scan available

High-temperature testing
Our high-temperature wedges are compatible with A31 and A32 phased array probes, as well as Olympus' Mini-Wheel encoder.
We offer a high-temperature wedge option compatible with the new A31 and A32 phased array probes and Olympus Mini-Wheel encoder, upon customer request. This optional wedge aids in inspecting workpieces with surface temperatures up to 150°C.

Intermediate shaft focus (PAF) wedge
Patented Olympus sub-rotary focusing wedge block series helps compensate for beam divergence issues in the sub-rotary direction, thereby enabling effective detection of pipeline circumferential weld seams. A narrower beam width allows for quantitative detection of shorter defects along the scan axis, thereby aiding in reducing waste rates. Moreover, improved focusing of the beam energy enhances signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), resulting in clearer defect images.
