PowderMetallurgyIntroduction to Process and Products
Powder metallurgy products are precision-processed from metal powders such as iron, copper, and stainless steel powders, using the forming-sintering method. The traditional process involves mixing powders, pressing, sintering, finishing, and post-processing (such as oil dipping, packaging, and machining). Essentially, high-purity mixed powders are first placed in molds and formed under pressure. The formed preforms are then sintered in a controlled atmosphere furnace at temperatures below the melting point of the base material, resulting in metallurgical bonding between the powder particles.
