PowderMetallurgyIntroduction to Process and Products
Powder metallurgy products are precision-processed using metal powders such as iron, copper, and stainless steel powders. The traditional process involves mixing the powders, pressing them into shape, sintering them under controlled atmosphere, and then finishing and post-processing (such as oil immersion, packaging, and machining). This means that the high-purity mixed powder is first placed in a mold and formed under pressure, followed by sintering in a controlled atmosphere furnace at a temperature below the melting point of the base material, resulting in metallurgical bonding between the powder particles.
