The gabion baskets are mechanically woven from high-corrosion-resistant, high-tensile, and ductile low-carbon steel wire, or the above-mentioned wire coated with PVC. The box-like structures made from this mesh are known as gabion mesh boxes. The diameter of the low-carbon steel wire used complies with ASTM and EN standards and varies according to engineering design requirements, generally ranging from 2.0 to 4.0 mm. The tensile strength of the gabion mesh wire is not less than 38 kg/m², the weight of the metallic coating is usually above 245 g/m², and the diameter of the edge line of the gabion mesh panels is generally larger than that of the mesh wires. The length of the double-strand twisted portion must be no less than 50mm to ensure that the metallic and PVC coatings of the twisted wire are not damaged.

2. Edge wires are generally thicker than mesh wires, with a thickness of 0.5-1.0mm more than the mesh wire.

3. Binding wire is generally smaller than mesh wire, with 2.2mm being the most common size.

Electroplated zinc. Zinc coating of 10g/m². Poor corrosion resistance.

2. Hot-dip galvanized. Zinc coating can reach up to 300g/m2. Strong corrosion resistance.

3. Galfan (zinc-aluminum alloy). This is divided into two types of materials: zinc-5% aluminum-mixed rare earth alloy steel wire, and zinc-10% aluminum-mixed rare earth alloy steel wire.

4. PVC Coated. The coating thickness is generally 1.0mm, for instance: after coating 2.7mm becomes 3.7mm. Strong corrosion resistance.
