The stone笼 mesh is mechanically woven from high-strength, ductile low-carbon steel wire or low-carbon wire coated with PVC. The box-like structures made from this mesh are known as stone笼 boxes. The diameter of the low-carbon steel wire used, in accordance with ASTM and EN standards, varies according to engineering design requirements and typically ranges between 2.0-4.0mm. The tensile strength of the stone笼 mesh wire is not less than 38kg/m2, the weight of the metallic coating is generally above 245g/m2, and the diameter of the edge line of the stone笼 mesh panels is usually larger than that of the wire mesh. The length of the double-stranded twist section must be no less than 50mm to ensure that the metallic and PVC coatings on the twisted wire sections are not damaged.
Gabion nets are used for slope support, foundation pit support, rock face meshing and shotcreting on mountains, as well as for isolation barriers on railways and highways. They can also be made into box-like structures and net pads, which are used for erosion protection of rivers, embankments, and sea dykes, as well as for reservoir and river sedimentation control nets.
Flexible structures can adapt to slope movements without being destroyed, offering greater geostability than rigid structures.
2. Strong erosion resistance, capable of withstanding water flow speeds up to 6m/s.
3. This structure is inherently permeable, offering strong tolerance to the natural actions and filtration of groundwater. Suspended particles and silt in the water settle within the gaps of the filled stones, thus promoting the growth of natural vegetation and gradually restoring the original ecological environment.
