Dendrobium flowers, when infused in water, can act as a nourishing agent for yin, promote the production of saliva, and cool the body. Dendrobium infusion is suitable for conditions such as heat-induced injury to fluid, dry mouth, post-disease yin deficiency, persistent fevers, night heat and early morning coolness, insufficient stomach yin, thin coating with little saliva, and fine and rapid pulse. It is often used in combination with raw rehmannia, ophiopogon, trigonella, asparagus, polygonatum, and lily. However, substances that are sweet and cold can help to accumulate pathogenic dampness. Therefore, it is not suitable for those with dampness-qi stagnation or damp-heat that has not yet dried up; and it should be strictly avoided for those with warm-damp diseases.
