Gisela 12 rootstock has a robust root system with numerous fine roots, strong nutrient absorption capabilities, and superior anchoring and waterlogging resistance compared to Gisela 6. While it may not have the early high-yielding potential of Gisela 6, it offers stable yields, ensuring both high and consistent productivity. It is highly adaptable to various soil types and performs best in fertile, well-ventilated soils. Additionally, its excellent anchoring and waterlogging resistance make it an ideal rootstock for windy and rainy regions.
Gisela 12 rootstock exhibits significant dwarfing effects, has good grafting compatibility with large cherry seedlings, and is particularly suitable for self-pollinating varieties; even without thinning the fruit after grafting, the resulting fruits will not shrink or overbear. The G12 rootstock is easy to propagate and, as a newly introduced dwarfing rootstock, has been rapidly promoted in recent years.
Choose cherry rootstocks with caution, based on local climate and the inherent characteristics of the rootstock!
