Gisela 6 is the most widely used scion wood in the Jisela series today, known for its early fruiting and high yield. It exhibits excellent resistance to adversity, disease resistance, and soil adaptability, with good grafting affinity.
The dwarfing effect of Gisela No. 6 scionwood is pronounced, making the trees very easy to manage; the dwarfed trees can greatly save on labor and materials.
Gisela No. 6 dwarfing rootstock bears fruit early and has excellent productivity, producing fruit within 3 years after planting, with yields exceeding 800 pounds per acre; it is also highly frost-resistant in winter and tolerates low temperatures; however, Gisela No. 6 has average tolerance to waterlogging, so precautions against flooding should be taken during heavy rain. Large cherry varieties with strong tree vigor are particularly well-suited for grafting onto Gisela No. 6, as they have good grafting compatibility.
