Alumina Single Crystal Sapphire Applications: Alumina single crystal, as an excellent dielectric material, exhibits good transmission rates in the ultraviolet, visible, infrared, and microwave spectrums, meeting the requirements for multi-mode composite guidance (TV, infrared imaging). It is used as window material and radome components in industries, and as a critical window material in optoelectronic communication. Large-size sapphire single crystals have minimal internal defects, no grain boundaries or pores as scattering sources, resulting in minimal strength loss and high transmission rates, making them the material of choice for transmission components. Due to sapphire's electrical insulation, transparency, high thermal conductivity, and hardness, it can be used as a substrate for integrated circuits, widely employed in LED and microelectronic circuits, thereby replacing the expensive silicon nitride substrates for IC manufacturing.
2. Transparent ceramics, such as fluorescent tubes for high-pressure sodium lamps. High-purity alumina, as an important material for transparent ceramics, is used to manufacture high-pressure sodium lamp tubes. High-pressure sodium lamps are highly efficient light sources that generate temperatures above 1000°C during sodium vapor discharge, making them highly corrosive. Glass tubes are unable to withstand these conditions, until the advent of high-purity alumina transparent ceramics, which made the practical application of high-pressure sodium lamps possible.
Transparent high-purity nano alumina fine ceramics not only transmits light but also boasts high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high insulation, high strength, and low dielectric loss. It is an excellent optical ceramic and can also be used for microwave oven windows and more.
3. Luminescent Materials. The primary raw materials for rare earth tricolor phosphors, long afterglow phosphors, PDP phosphors, and LED phosphors. High-purity alumina is one of the key substances used in rare earth tricolor phosphors. Tricolor phosphors are luminescent substances that can produce red, green, and blue colors effectively through discharge, offering higher application value than halogen phosphor lamps.
4. Polishing Abrasives. Abrasives for manufacturing glass, metal, semiconductor, and plastic. High-purity nano-alumina oxide for precision polishing, with low impurity content and small particle size, featuring high polishing efficiency and high luster. Widely used in precision polishing industries, and capable of meeting the precision polishing requirements for products with low impurity content. Suitable for precision polishing of materials like sapphire, glass, metal, semiconductor, and plastic, achieving mirror-like finish without defects.
