New Standard Name: IATF 16949 (updated to IATF 16949:2016 starting in 2016).

Objective: To ensure that all organizations involved in production, design, development, installation, and service within the automotive industry can establish and continuously improve their quality management systems, enhancing the efficiency, consistency, and competitiveness of the entire automotive supply chain.
Scope of Application
Industry Scope: Applies to vehicle manufacturers and their direct component suppliers, as well as other organizations related to vehicle production and services.
Product Range: Materials, products, or services related to the automotive industry, such as production materials, production parts, and maintenance parts, surface treatment services like heat treatment, molds, and production equipment. However, it does not include the production of industrial, agricultural, and non-highway vehicles, nor does it include after-market parts.
Automotive Definition: Includes passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, heavy trucks, buses, and motorcycles.
Section 3: Certification Requirements
Corporate Compliance: Such as business license, etc.
Automotive Supply Chain Certificate: Companies must prove their connection to the automotive supply chain.
Quality Management System Operation Records: The company must have at least 12 months of production and quality management records.
Bulk supply of auto products: The company must prove the mass production of auto products.
Quality Management System Documents: Including manuals, process analysis materials, procedure documents, etc.
Internal Audit and Management Review Documents: The company must provide documents for internal audits and management reviews.
Production Process Diagram: The company must provide a production process diagram.
Section 4: Certification Process
Form a cross-departmental team: including departments such as quality, technology, production, and procurement, with clear responsibilities.
Comprehensive Training: Conduct training for all employees on IATF 16949 standards and the Five Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
System Assessment: Evaluate the gap of the existing system against standard requirements.
Document Preparation: Drafting the Quality Manual, procedure documents, operation guides, record templates, etc.
Management Review: Effectiveness of the Management Review System.
Submit Application: Submit the "Application Form," business license, system documents, process list, internal audit report, and other required documents to the certification body.
Document Review: Evaluate the completeness, compliance, and alignment with the company's actual situation.
On-site Audit: Includes compliance with terms, process effectiveness, and customer-specific requirements.
Correction and Verification: Develop a corrective action plan for items found non-compliant during the audit, submit evidence, and undergo verification by the certification body.
Certificate Issuance: The audit team submits a report, and the certification body issues a certificate (valid for 3 years).
Continuous Supervision: An annual supervision audit is conducted to ensure ongoing compliance with the system.
Review and Update: Re-audit Stage 1 and Stage 2, and issue an updated certificate upon successful completion.
