Green building materials, also known as eco-friendly, environmental-friendly, and health-friendly materials, refer to construction materials that are healthy, eco-friendly, and safe. Internationally, they are also called "health-friendly building materials" or "environmental-friendly building materials." Green building materials do not refer to a single product but rather an evaluation of the "health, environmental protection, and safety" properties of construction materials. They are materials produced using clean production technologies, with minimal use of natural resources and energy, and extensive use of industrial or urban solid waste, ensuring they are non-toxic, non-polluting, non-radioactive, and beneficial to environmental protection and human health. These materials possess properties such as demagnetization, noise reduction, light and temperature regulation, insulation, fire resistance, and static electricity resistance, as well as special new functional properties that regulate human physiological functions.
Basic Features
(1) The production process minimizes the use of natural resources and extensively utilizes by-products, waste, and effluents.
(2) Utilizes low-energy consumption manufacturing processes and pollution-free production technologies.
(3) No formaldehyde, halogenated solvents, or aromatic hydrocarbons may be used in the product formulation or production process. The product must not contain pigments or additives that include mercury or its compounds.
(4) The product design is aimed at improving the production environment and enhancing the quality of life. The product should not only not harm human health but also be beneficial to it. It features multifunctionality, such as antibacterial, sterilization, anti-fungal, deodorization, heat insulation, flame retardancy, temperature and humidity regulation, demagnetization, radiation protection, and antistatic properties.
(5) Products are recyclable or reusable, with no waste that pollutes the environment.
Qualified Mark
(1) Ten Ring Logo
National Environmental Protection Bureau certified, authoritative; applying for the logo requires inspection of the physical and environmental performance of construction materials, and the production site must meet environmental standards. Cost: For companies with a scale of 2 products for 30 employees or fewer, the minimum is 22,500 yuan [excluding inspection fees]. Ten环 Logo Type II [Self-declaration for enterprises]: The applicant enterprise provides a copy of the inspection report for the physical and environmental performance of construction materials, which can be a commissioned inspection report. The minimum cost is 13,000 yuan.
(2) Fire resistant label
The first Chinese mark to require both fire resistance and environmental protection, it is currently the most challenging mark to apply for in the market. To obtain this mark, companies must submit three major reports: fire resistance, environmental protection, and physical properties, all of which must be inspected. Additionally, the environmental protection standards are based on the new criteria [which exceed national standards] and a site environmental review is required. The mark costs 15,000 RMB for a 2-year period [excluding inspection fees] and is set to be China's most authoritative mark.
