The expansion chamber, also known as the low-level chamber, is used in the thermal oil furnace system to compensate for the volume changes of thermal oil due to temperature variations, thereby stabilizing the pressure of the heat transfer medium in the system. Additionally, it aids in the system's dehydration and steam evacuation. Therefore, the expansion chamber should be set at a height of 1.5-2M above the other equipment or pipes in the system, and it should maintain a high liquid level during normal operation.
Expansion groove (low groove) is primarily used for storing thermal oil discharged from the high groove, furnace tubes, and the system. It should be in a low liquid level state during operation, ready to accept incoming thermal oil at any time. The exhaust outlet should be connected to a safe area and no valves should be installed.
Caution for using expansion slots:
Firstly, the expansion tank must be installed at a high position within the entire electric heating thermal oil furnace system. The bottom of the tank should be at least 1.5 meters higher than the thermal oil surface of all heating and heat-using equipment in the system. This is to prevent the thermal oil from de-gassing due to insufficient static pressure in the upper parts of the equipment when the pump stops. On the other hand, the installation location of the expansion tank should be away from the electric heating thermal oil furnace to prevent the overflow of thermal oil in the expansion tank from causing a fire.
When the electric heating thermal oil boiler reaches operating temperatures of 200℃ to 320℃, it expands approximately 20% to 30% in volume. Therefore, the volume of the expansion tank should be greater than 1.3 times the expansion value of the thermal oil at its rated temperature within the entire system (including pipelines and heating equipment). Additionally, it should be ensured that the liquid level of the thermal oil in the expansion tank fluctuates within the range of 30% to 70% of its low and high liquid levels.
Three, overflow pipes, level gauges, low-level alarms, and vent pipes (with measures to prevent rainwater from entering) should be installed on the expansion groove. The position of the overflow outlet should be lower than the high-level indication of the level gauge.
Four: Utilize small-diameter expansion pipes to prevent convection of cold and hot oil.
Section 5: The temperature of the expansion groove should be controlled below 70°C.
Section 6: Valves are prohibited on the connecting pipes between the expansion channels and the electrically heated thermal oil heating system. The pipes should not have sharp bends, and insulation is not required. The diameter of the expansion pipes should be determined based on the heating capacity of the thermal oil heater.
