Multi-functional Distillation Apparatus Operation Procedure
For example, ammonia-nitrogen distillation—Determination of ammonia-nitrogen in water quality by distillation-neutralization titration method (HJ537-2009)
1. Turn on the "Power" switch of the multi-functional distiller. The instrument displays the default distillation time of "01:10" (1 hour and 10 minutes), which can be adjusted according to actual conditions. Open the "Cooling" switch on the left side of the instrument to ensure a smooth flow of cooling water in the condenser tube.
2. Transfer the 50ml boric acid absorbent solution into the receiving bottle, ensuring the condenser outlet silicone tube is below the surface of the boric acid solution.
3. Take 250ml of water sample (if ammonia nitrogen content is high, take less water sample and add distilled water to 250ml), transfer it to a 500ml conical flask, add 2 drops of bromothymol blue indicator, and if necessary, adjust the pH to 6.0 (indicator is yellow) - 7.4 (indicator is blue) using sodium hydroxide solution or sulfuric acid solution. Add 0.25g of light magnesium oxide, and if necessary, add antifoam agent. Immediately connect the condenser and通气 plastic tube, and turn on the "bubbling" switch of the multi-functional distiller to ensure good gas flow in the distillation flask. Press the "start" button, and the instrument begins to heat and distill. The second hand of the clock blinks (:), and the real-time temperature is displayed. After reaching the set time, the instrument automatically stops heating, but the electric stove's cooling fan continues to work to dissipate excess heat.
Remove the receiving bottle, dilute to 250mL, and it can be directly used for the subsequent titration.
5. After the solution in the distillation flask has cooled to room temperature, you may turn off the "cooling" and "pumping" switches on the instrument.
When conducting other sample analyses, users should determine the timing and heating power according to experimental requirements, after self-exploration.
