Water-repellent rock wool board is made from basalt and other natural ores, which are melted at high temperatures to form fibers, then mixed with a suitable binder and solidified through processing. It is widely used in industries such as shipbuilding, metallurgy, electricity, and construction, offering excellent insulation and soundproofing properties. Water-repellent rock wool board is employed in vehicles, mobile equipment, cold storage projects, air conditioning ducts, and for thermal insulation and fire prevention in damp environments, as well as in applications with specific moisture resistance requirements.
Usage
Widely applied in the insulation of industrial boilers and pipeline equipment in industries such as oil, chemicals, metallurgy, shipbuilding, and textiles. Also used in the construction industry for partition walls, suspended ceilings, and thermal and sound-insulating treatments for interior and exterior walls.
Construction
1. Insulated facilities and pipelines must be leak-free, dry on the surface, free of grease, and rust-free. Under certain conditions, such as citrus, appropriate coatings can be applied for corrosion prevention.
2. To minimize heat loss, all joints of the boards and felt must be tightly sealed. When using multi-layer insulation, the cross joints should be staggered to avoid the formation of thermal bridges. In refrigeration, cold bridges must be strictly prevented.
3. Rock wool products are used for outdoor insulation, or metal or plastic sheathing should be used in areas prone to mechanical wear. Pay attention to the sealing of joints and seams, and add a rubber seal if necessary. The overlapping part of the wrapping layer should not be less than 100mm.
4. For refrigeration purposes, a moisture-proof layer must be added to the refrigerating surface. In extremely low temperatures, use non-resin rock wool for insulation, and the moisture-proof layer must also be fire-resistant.
5. When the temperature exceeds 200°C, the insulation must be protected with an appropriate outer sheath, so the expansion will not change the thickness and bulk density.
6. For rock wool insulation on equipment with large diameters or flat walls, thermal anchors should be added above 200°C (spaced 400mm apart), and the outer jacket should be tightly attached.
7. When the insulation object is vertically positioned and has a considerable height, it must have positioning pins or support rings in the insulation layer, spaced no more than 3 meters apart to prevent the insulation material from sliding down during vibration.
8. External thermal insulation and refrigeration work should not be carried out during rain, and rain protection measures should be taken otherwise.
